Oh dear....

I'm in MLID discord, pretty pro AMD place and couple of the guys have some spot on sources. Couple of people reporting from their AIB sources (Asus being one) that 68XX availability is going to be worse than Nvidia 3080.

Huge supply issue with bga substrate which is gonna restrict supply of ref and partner cards massively.

I've got a C9 and found myself playing more games on this recently rather than my monitor (HDR is great).

im not sure how a 6800 would perform with it as it doesnt look like the freesync is available on it

Think I’ve typed this a few times now but you’ll be fine with VRR over HDMI 2.1.

You don’t need FreeSync on the C9, VRR does the same thing!

I personally wouldn't bother. There's often a price increase for a tiny little bit of extra performance the AIBs can tack onto their premium model, and I just don't see much of a cost/performance benefit. Usually you're paying for a better, quieter cooler, but even the standard models seem to be better and have moved away from that single centrifugal fan that exits out the back of the case. That design was always noisier and less good at cooling, but now everyone seems to have adopted a more standard 2/3 fans on a big finned heatsink design that works well and quietly.

Just as a heads up, due to the complexity of these new chips and the high speeds, Nvidia did 3 chip bins for AIBs to buy, if AMD follow suit the difference in perf. could be up to 15% between bottom and top tier.

Hmm, I haven't seen much mention of this yet but I do wonder what the mobility versions are going to be like and if in this generation they will manage to translate the high-end parts to that platform as successfully as Nvidia have been doing for the last years.

Coreteks is drowning in his own garbage. First his claim of a coprocessor, then his claim big Navi was 2080ti +15%. Then his ms paint big Navi die shot.

I can't wait to see what he gets wrong next!

He was wrong about the 15% and his speculation on the nvidia cards having a coprocessor but his “die shot” was spot on... so you can’t really hold that up as one of his many failings.

lol

Sorry if has been mentioned already,
are AMD selling the reference version of the 6800XT themselves, or will retailers stock these too?

Retailers will be selling them too, you'll be able to get the reference cards from their partners, Sapphire, Asus etc...

Its only the 6900 XT (as far as i know), thats only going to be available to buy, from AMD themselves direct.

Wonder why the 6900 XT isn't a named card like the Fury/Vega ?, as they did say when they brought out the Fury, they were going to name their top cards from now on, like Nvidia (Titan).

Are you serious you can't see the difference in the size?

I can’t believe you are serious... the one Lisa Su is holding up isn’t fitted to a board so orientation isn’t shown. The one Coreteks showed also isn’t shown in context of the PCB so there is no way to tell orientation.

Rotate either one by 90 degrees and the proportions of both the shroud and the chip are spot on.

EDIT - here, can you seriously not see how those proportions are spot on?
