PSU's are a total minefield, even within a manufacturer they sub-contract and use different designs model-to-model.

Believe it or not i went through 5 psu's, all the big guns and ended up on a specific design from corsair - the AX760 (manufactured by seasonic and not the AXi model).

Even the higher end Corsairs have coil-whine but for some reason the AX760 is the go-to model if you want a mid-range PSU with no coil whine.

Don't believe the outputs/platinum/big-names or price, do your homework if coil-whine is an issue for you.

I originally bought a seasonic 850w platinum to start with and yep - it had coil-whine.

ASUS says 6800XT GPU will "sellout within minutues"
edit: the below is not directed at you, It just annoys me when people are more focused on how much time before its sold out than actual units sold.

That is the most pointless statement ever though. If they made 10 GPUS and 10 people bought them they could sell out within minutes.
likewise if they made 10 million GPUs etc etc etc.

We've seen this all before with the 3000 series with all the statements of sold out instantly, yet nobody could actually put a number on how many they had in stock

Actually, a competitor to overclockers.co.uk located here in Denmark put out numbers for how many rtx 3000 series GPU's shipped to customers, how many ordered from manufacturers, how many orders waiting to receive units, etc etc, and when you look at the total amount of units shipped to customers ain't pretty.

Just to add to this restock time also matters. Are people waiting a 1-2 weeks or 1-2 months for their orders?

well then in those cases you can quantify it a bit better instead of people saying concentrating on the "sold out within minutes" aspect.
To me, the only thing that matters is how much stock there is and not how fast it sells. If there is enough stock scalping will be less of a thing even if it still clears in minutes. At least that is what I believe.

They dont want to admit it and its probably a business decision. If you tell customers we only had 20 then its unlikely you would shop there again for the next release due to low numbers. The fact is everyone had low numbers so no one wants to brag about it. I think we all know full well now the numbers were small like in 00's.

I can remember the days when Gibbo announces he has enough stock for a launch as ordered 10,000 units yet in his recent posts a large amount is like 300. Like he said in his big post in the update thread the distribution for GPU's seems abysmal as you have to deal with loads of different points unlike CPU's when they generally come from one place.

What alarmed me was the fact to admitting he knows that a lot of stock goes missing along the way at one of the many drop off points and nothing they can do about it !

Its crazy. I thought OcUK were in a strong position when I bought my last card with them two years ago. Like you said they stood on the soapbox in recent times how they are the largest, and flying over to China to make deals etc. #

Fast forward to now and humongous demand, yet the stock has been pathetic, hardly a large retailer and some of the direct competitors seem to be churning them out recently so Im not sure what all the chaos is down to it would be nice to get some transparency on it all.
