I haven't purchase an AMD reference board before so apologies if this is a dumb question. From what you said it sounds like all reference boards are made by the same manufacturer so it doesn't matter which board partner you get one from, the only difference is likely to be the box and label?

While technically true, Asus, MSI and Gigabyte will mark theirs up higher, with Asus being the worst offender.

Yes you will actually pay Asus more for the exact same card as all the other vendors, but you gain so much with their absolutely horrendous customer support, so i guess the Asus sticker is worth more than the other vendors lmao.

Correct, apparently they're made by Sapphire (good thing), and the other brands literally just change the box.

The real pain is that we're going to have 8 different queues for the same card, so if you go with Asus along with 1000 other people, but only 300 pick MSI, you're going to wait way longer and there's no way to really tell which is the right option.

The "value" is in the warranty, that's about the only difference. I ain't paying a premium for garbage service.

See thats the thing, they should ALL have the same warranty regardless of what sticker is on the front. If its the case where warranty periods differ, id go for the longest regardless of what the sticker on it is. Now when we get the proper custom partner cards thats an entirely different ball game.

Will be interesting to see how the prices differ if they are offering extended warranties. Might also end up dictating which queues will be longer.

In all honesty if i was going reference id just buy the XFX or Asrock as they are likely to be lesser choices, Sapphire, Powercolor, Asus, MSI and Gigabyte will be busy.

I'm aiming for putting my card under water, so I think I'll wait and see what the reviews and benchmarks show as to what I'd get, if I was going to go launch day purchase, I'd go for a reference simply because it looks like AMD have prepared well for this launch by getting their designs out to partners a la the EK blocks and kit that were leaked. I am impressed by the way AMD have handled this launch so far, just need to see on stock levels that are delivered to retailers. And hopefully scalpers will be less of an issue this time round.
Good luck to you guys who will be going for glory on the 18th

i dont really want to buy before the reviewers get their hands on them i will be upgrading, but if it means i have to wait a month or 2 its no biggy tbh the nitro wil tie me over

There should be more leaks by then.. though the recent one with basemark was below expectation

I would like to see how that translates to timespy.. basemark is supposed to be limited by sample size it seems

didnt AMD win in timespy but lost in timespy extreme, hoping the reviewer embargo was before launch, but doesnt look that way
