that demo is a Microsoft DXR ark benchmark, I'm pretty sure Microsoft did not design direct x12 ultimate to favour Nvidia when it would benefit their own Xbox to favour AMD

I'll give you one better. I run the same demo on my 2070S and got wild results just by moving other windows around, or for example clicking the window and making it active (144FPS) VS clicking on empty desktop to make it inactive (342FPS) - the latter gave me considerably higher FPS for no reason at all! In other words, that benchmark gives horribly inaccurate results and I wouldn't use it for any sensible comparison at all.

@Grim5
More proof, ignore it.

11:30 3080 vs 6800XT (bottom of graph shows no rage mode or SMART)
12:57 6800XT Rage Mode + SMART access improvement
19:52 6800 vs 2080ti (bottom of graph shows SMART)
22:44 6900 vs 3090 (bottom of graph shows SMART and rage mode)
So really the 6900 is only around 5% faster than the 6800XT when rage mode/SMART is not enabled and is 50% higher price?

It appears you need smart access memory which is available on Ryzen 5000 series CPUs to get optimal performance.

It's very possible that for gaming you won't need top notch ram.

To be fair if you aren't paying attention their slides were a mess in that regard - the 6800 slides had just Smart enabled, no power draw. The 6800XT had power draw but neither Smart nor Rage, the 6900XT had both smart and rage but no power draw.

3 slides, 3 different formats. No consistency for comparisons.

Like I say I think they had to enable both for the 6900XT because otherwise it would have shown tiny improvements over the 6800XT and made it look more daft.... a little more consistency between slides would have been appreciated though imo.

That said the 6800XT is where a lot of the attention is going to be focused and that is the one were it really was as apples to apples as a presentation slide is going to get with no boost from smart or rage and a power figure for comparison.

buildzoid speculated it might be a locked out feature on some cards, he said he remembered in some previous AMD cards where raw performance was close, the higher end cards had more o/c features unlocked.

Isn't the 3090 nearly triple the 3080 price for the 10% gains?

But I would expect it to be about that, yes. The top tier cards this year really just aren't worth it.

Lies!!!

At most you will buy it and then find a reason to sell it and buy an nvidia card!

:p;)
Haha, it wouldn't be the first time but the 3090 is out of my price range this time but the 6900 fits my wallet nicely. No rush either, as I want to hold my 2080Ti for a bit but will see how my patience/patients hold out

Yes, I think if they showed the powerdraw in those slides, it wouldn't look so favourable. I also notice how all the fps comparisons say "up to" instead of the expected average.

No xfire which was to be expected, however prices as expected and fantastic performance, all as expected as far as I see! Plus some lovely additional bonuses for you guys who will move to Zen3, great stuff
