The time came

he probably is, provided it goes for the asking price, but I doubt that.
In any case, he had it, tried it properly and saw it's not for him, then sells it on without any loss (maybe even profit).
I think there's worst things you can do really.

Yep i agree, he's another one should have bought a Jag :D

Is he selling for cost reasons? I thought these clios were supposed to be quite cheap to run?

They're cheap to run if nothing breaks, but they do seem a little fragile. Typically French build and a chassis and engine that begs to be ragged means most have led a hard life, which is reflected in the potential for costs.

I'm not selling it because it's expensive (bar the de-phaser, belts etc. it's actually been really quite cheap), but rather because they are **** at just about everything other than b-road blasts, and I have a larger budget to play with now. In fact, it'll probably be replaced with something that'll cost more to run :/

I could knock £500 off my asking price and still make a small profit on it.

I particularly like the "almost FSH" bit...

You mean the "FRSH, bar the last (de-phaser etc.)"?

From my ride in the EK9, while it is louder and less refined in general, the ride seemed more compliant than that of the Clio. I guess the double wishbone suspension helps somewhat, too.

Just for you;

So it's time to sell up, I really like the car and it is not an easy decision to make, but I want something a little more sophisticated and refined as I'm spending most of my time just pottering around now.

Firstly, please don't let my location put you off (Isle of Wight). It is just a short journey from Lymington, Southampton, Portsmouth or Southsea and costs around £10 return (varies slightly by route). I will happily pick up ny prospective buyers from any ferry terminal. I will also supply the eventual buyer with a ferry ticket to get the car back to the mainland.

54 Plate (Dec 2004).
Both cup packs (Handling and styling packs).
1 Previous owner (for 134k miles)
FRSH, bar the last (de-phaser etc.)
137k miles (mostly motorway miles - most people will say this, but this is clearly evident in the condition of the car, and the way it drives).
13 Months MOT (will be renewed before sale)
6 Months Tax.
PE2s all round, plenty of tread left (5-6mm).
Oil, Filter, KTR Air-filter, plugs, Cambelt, Auxbelt, all tensioners and de-phaser pulley all done 1000 miles ago and properly - all times up perfectly and the car still pulls as hard as ever (£800+ job at Renault!)
New discs and mintex pads all round and brake fluid replaced just yesterday.
New engine mount and polybushed dogbone mount.
Braided brake lines front and rear.
De-cat (original supplied in GWO, can be fitted at buyers request).
Thumbgrips replaced.
Gear knob insert refurbished.
Drivers seat lowered (original spacers supplied, can be restored prior to sale at buyers request)
3/4 front plate (legal one supplied and both are on velcro - they can be swapped in seconds)

All in all, a very tidy car despite the mileage - this car really is a prime example of buying on condition rather than mileage, it's a credit to it's previous owner and I've just brought it up to scratch.

Wheels are all in very good (and original!) condition, bar one tiny scuff on the outside edge of one of them.

All electrics work fine - electric windows, auto lights, climate control, auto wipers etc. Xenons fire up quickly, and as they should - no pinkness.

There are a couple of little bad points, and they are the only things that prevent this car from being considered mint - the coating has started to wear slightly from the drivers door grab handle and there is a scratch that has been touched up on the rear bumper, although it is only really evident close up to the car.

I'm asking £3500 - a bargain if you can look past the mileage onto the actual condition of the car.
