The time came

I can't tell if you're deliberately misquoting or you just can't read but quite frankly I'm astonished you have the audacity to still try and criticise in this thread after being pulled up on your lies, I'm guessing you've just ignored them in the hope they'll go away - each mention seems to keep you away for a little longer though, let's hope it works this time too :)

Where have I said I'm going to pick up some freshly refurbished Trophy dampers for £300?

Lies?

[MikeHiow Mode] "Prove it!" [/MikeHiow Mode]

Ok...

Looks like Mike wasn't to optimistic, theres another 54 plate 182 on ClioSport for sale for £3500...

Oh no, never mind, it has 44,000 miles on it and the cambelt was fitted by a Renault garage. :)

I have for sale my '54' plate Iceburg Silver 182 on 44k miles, Never Let me down. Mot is Due January (only advisories last time was new tyres and all changed) Tax is June

Interior is Neat with no rips. Nice CD player in their connected to a 900W sub and amp package to go with the car. Still have the net for the boot too.

Belts done last Year but garage i got the car from.

Clear side indicators, 3/4 new plate and rear (Private plate comes with car)
Uprated Exhaust not sure what sort, bigger pipes and back boxes. Renault sport and Clio badge removed (have the Clio one still) Clio-sport sticker

Wheels have new tyres and recently sprayed black, which look nice.

Bad News: I've bumped the car in the front, so minor the bloke didn't have any damage so i didn't bother involving them either, as a result needs new bumper and the bracket for the passenger light has broken i tried to stick it back temporary but didn't work. Also dent in the bonnet but this was before i got the car.

This will be sorely missed but i'm moving out of the family home and need to pay back a loan to do so

PM me or call on 07896 052 843. Im in WOLVERHAMPTON. will meet you to collect car but would need a deposit.

Pictures Here

bumper i will put up monday but the first picture has a bit of it in

No mention of belts being done by a Renault garage, what tyres it has, previous owners or service history, the whole advert screams "run away" before you even get to the part where it has a smashed front end.

And what would you mean by "a good set" if it wasn't a set recently refurbished?

A set of dampers that still damp as they should, still hold all their oil and gas and are still in one piece.

I'd rather carry around "FRSH bar de-phaser etc." (which is obvious that it works perfectly) than missing out a vital piece of information such as a car for sale that's been front-ended to support your argument.

It's like me saying Gibbo paid far too much for his C2 because I found one for £20k (it's been written off as salvage only, but that's not important!).

Well, you could have avoided making baseless arguments in the first place, or you could have avoided further basing your arguments on a lie (such as giving a front-ended car as a price example, or telling us that a Clio is a nicer place to be and just as comfortable as a Mondeo), or you could have even stopped misquoting to continue the argument.

All this crap because the car is advertised at maybe £500 more than I can realistically expect, but of course, it's me, right? All because 90% of Motors is based on Wikipedia and people's opinions - so many people here seems to think they are either a motoring journalist, car salesman or a financial advisor.

It's a shame, whilst some of the arguments are fun, others just make it tedious and I spend half the thread checking information and clarifying misinformation/misquotes because people are looking for a hole to dig.

If this wasn't glaringly obvious before, it was after I posted a possible solution to keep the car, as people say I'm wrong to sell it, and then people tell me I'm wrong for finding a solution to keep it.

Whatever it is, it is dissected, mocked and questioned - "You can't stick a feeler gauge between a cam lobe and lifter, it's a BMW and they charge lots of money for it!" (M3 valve clearances), "You can't DIY a clio cambelt" and it's still mocked after it's been done! "You can't do 100mph and stop in 1/3 of a mile", yet it was still mocked in this very thread after video evidence was provided. "You can't possibly prefer a FWD Focus ST over an Impreza" etc. etc.

Motors has some very useful assets, it's just a shame it's so bloody difficult to take advantage of them.

To be fair that would be the case if you were a retailer - as its £500 over the retail value. You are not, so its about £1k over.

I still find it hard to believe that retail value is only £3000 on the dot, I'll be sure to check that later. But irrespective of that, based on the current private market, £3k is perfectly realistic given the condition etc. Let's be fair, my car is far from the typical condition of a 137k mile car, something Glass's guide will never account for, especially not on a French hot hatch!

I beleive the original disputed claim was about accelerating to well in excess of 100mph and then slowing for a roundabout, not only doing 100mph?

Well the Video showed ~120-navigating round about on the way up and 100-0 in around half - two thirds of it, on the way down - in excess of 100mph is possible :)

Again, this doesnt seem to mirror what happened there either? I dont think the argument there was you saying you prefered your ST, it was you claiming the ST was faster or something. I'd prefer an ST to an Impreza as well so there must have been more to it than simply that..

IIRC, The argument started off people couldn't comprehend me not liking the Impreza then it moved on to discussions of in gear times when I said the ST felt faster - the conclusion after many pages was that a mapped ST was close to the in-gear times of a PPP.

You forget that one of your tendancies on here which leads to huge threads is to make outrageously silly claims and then over the course of the next 6 pages, backtrack sufficiently that the point you end up making is infact half reasonable. Then you look back on your eventual reasonable point and think 'Why do they argue with me'.

This is your interpretation, which may have been the case early on, but as time went on, I was more and more careful with being thorough, dotting the Is and crossing the Ts.

This thread? Has been based on petty crap from the start, whether it was a tyre, or the fact a few people think it's overpriced (a few thought it was reasonable, too - they were ignored).

Head over to cliosport.net for feedback!

The trouble is, I'm likely to hit the same response over there as I've had from Clio owners on here - no one likes to be told their car isn't very good, even if it's just for one person's applications.

I also suspect it'll be littered with 'Well duh, why fit harder suspension then' from people that don't quite understand the issue/suspension. I guess it was more a case of I couldn't be bothered, perhaps I'll give it a go and see anyway.

That is exactly my Dilema, Phil.

If changing the suspension works, it'll almost certainly save me money. Not only on the purchase price of the other cars I'd consider, but all the niggles that would need doing, that you get on any second hand car (of which, have already been addressed on the Clio).

I just need to figure out if I can accurately assess whether it will work or not.

Are you serious......?!?! Is Mike sniffing skittles~?!?!?!

You mean to tell me this madness is all because the suspension doesnt fee right to you!

You're willing to sell up because of this. And what if the next car doesnt "fee" right.... Will you simply sell that off too?

Do yourself a favour and save up for a 911 gt2 rs!

Here we go again, I'm forced to clarify people people either cannot read, or are literally making things up that I've said.

I'm selling up because the Clio cannot cope with our roads, it skips, bump steers and generally feels unstable unless it's a good road.

Here you go!

http://pistonheads.com/sales/2530789.htm

I implore you to ***** about a clio with the cup chassis upgrade lol

I don't get it? Mine has the Cup packs?

Fix it then.........

Can you **** off and come back once you've thread the thread please? :(

The car isn't broken, the dampers are responsive and the springs are in one piece, they (and I presume it is the suspension - it is the most likely suspect) simply cannot keep it together on our roads.

You can understand what is going on by reading the thread you've decided to stomp in to.

Thanks for telling me what I've already suggested over the last page

That said quite how he can be so sure there is only 1 Trophy on the IOW, implying that he knows the situation of every car on the Island, I've no idea :D

Don't think I was "so sure", I said "AFAIK".

You need to remember that is isn't just about population, you have very little overlap in to surrounding area, it is fairly self-contained and that is why it feels so small.

This is why every 5 minutes on Facebook you see someone moaning because someone spotted their partner cheating on the other side of the Island, or because someone is now shagging their ex-girlfriend. Everyone knows everyone, and if they don't, a friend knows them. Most people's girlfriends have been out with one of their friends, or at least someone they know - it causes loads of problems and there is no escaping it.

You can not go out to any of the major bars without knowing several people, and you're guaranteed to know someone in just about every line of business or leisure.

That is just how it works down here, always has done, and always will do - any Isle of Wighter will tell you the same.

I've lived on the Mainland, and it was nothing like it.

You may get some level of it, as people tend to form natural groups around high school - over here it bridges high schools, and is literally just the whole Island.

Perhaps I'm not doing a good job of explaining it, but it is really quite different - I've never experienced it anywhere else and so many of the few that move away from the Island praise the fact it is nothing like it.

Like I said, I think the main factor is the lack over over-lap, ie. you don't get people who say live on the outskirts of Portsmouth who are mostly friends with people in Fareham. You also get less spread - far less people leave the Island for work/uni/love/whatever.

There is not just one car forum, the one I choose to participate in is private and has a rather small base. I knew most of the people on this forum before I joined it, and that was why/how I joined.

It isn't just limited to the car scene - ie. I have a friend who is in to shooting, he happens to know a lot of people I know that are in to cars and shooting, and this trend grows exponentially. Hence, everyone knowing everyone - most people both work and play on the Isle of Wight, so there is no getting away from it.

Because it is an Island, there are not many of anything and people from different places often converge on one place of common interest be it related to their hobby, work or whatever. So, most of the time where you live is irrelevant.

I can't really explain it any better than that, so you'll either have to take it on my word, leave it or find someone else to ask :P

So why do you seem so surprised that I have many friends /contacts with many different cars and in many different lines of work?
