The Ultimate Car Wash

To be fair ignoring the 61 stage doo dah the next level down which provides a full paint prep and protect seems to be pretty good value at from £500. Personally if I had a super car and the money required to maintain it I'd consider having this level of clean done a couple of times a year at least.

Do we even know that the Pinnacle Miracle Detail is always £5k? It says "Price on application" on his site, so surely it varies by car?

As you say, the next one down which is probably 100 times better than anything we would normally do is "only" £500-£600.

Yea, Im sure it varies from car to car, depending on how its been cleaned before, meaning what work is needed to it.

Those big £5k and £7k washes arent things you do every day.

They are the sort of ones you do every 1-2 years that will make the car immaculate again. After that im sure the regular cleans after that are a lot less seeing as it will be a lot quicker. (probably just a clean/dry)

I wanna know what that wax is. I know carnuba wax is the toughest natural stuff around but it cant be pure carnuba as that is sold in blocks and is like he said concrete.

I'd imagine there must be a refill limit, else whats to stop him selling it to all his mates and then just sending his one off to get refilled once per week?

Yeah probably is but that jar prob lasts him a while. The ammount of wax it takes to cover a car is fairly minimal which is why its applied with the hands.

The price also takes into account the fact its unlimited refill, the actual wax in itself cant cost much more than £100-200 to make.

For that price i want it cleaned behind the number plates and the wheels removed :D

No doubt that is exactly what happens. Probably the carpets are removed and the surfaces cleaned underneath as well.

A full detail (to me) involves much more than a hose pipe and a rag. It involves the full extent of my tool box as well.

When I was restoring cars, I never worried about the cleanliness of them until the bodywork was complete and a thorough test drive was given. Once I was at that point all chrome and badges, all removeable parts were cataloged and taken off, then (if it needed it) the car was painted. If not, it was waxed to within an inch of its life (5 stage waxing) and all the parts VERY carefully reinstalled.

Yes, this also involved quite a few bits and bobs removed under the bonnet as well to get to the painted surface underneath them.

A true detailing sometimes can also involve removing the seats.

So it's no wonder it costs five thousand quid. As someone else said, a majority of that probably goes to paying for his liability insurance.

I wouldnt mind washing cars like that for a living :D
Now to get some money to buy the products and start a buisness like his

If I had that car and the money I'd rather pay for a load of fit babes in bikinis (no metal catches on the to scratch the paintwork obviously) to soap it down. It might not be a clean at the end but it would be a much better spectacle :)
