Just bought another copy of this for the other machine here. It's a shame it's not free anymore although can hardly complain at the price. The last time I checked this SCP was on an older build so am looking forward to this...again.:D

Richdog, would be good to get a multiplayer on the go, if possible, at some point. :D
 
A timely thread as ironically I started playing FSPort about a week ago (I completed the FS2 campaign around 3 years ago). Didn't realise I needed to point the MOD to fsport-mediavps rather than just fsport!

It's a shame they haven't got an up to date installer package out there, that's probably one area where Quakeworld (another open source 90s game with fabulous modern updates) is ahead thanks to nQuake.
 
Just been playing FS2 (didn't bother with the first one) Done the training missions and the first real mission then as i was playing the 2nd mission it crashed, I was enjoying this to :(
 
Yes mate, using OpenGL, Followed the Guide to the letter. It's crashed 3 times on me now, There's no error message it just locks up :(

Using a GTX280 with latest drivers if thats any help

Seems to have sorted itself out now. I re-booted played GRID for 10 mins tried FS2 again and it works a treat.

Strange but the main thing is its working :)
 
Just out of curiousity, how long did it take any of you to dl all the files with the installer? Just trying to figure out whether to wait a bit or just leave the pc on.

Got a bit of a prob here, every time I attempt to download the "mediaVP complete" flie for the eye candy, it gets to about 50mb (of 347mb) and bombs out everytime. is there another link available>

Downloading via the installer takes ages, although you can 'resume' it by simply re-running the installer at a later date if necessary. The temptation is to tick nearly all the options but you can save yourself some time by stripping out some of the unnecessary stuff to start with such as TCs.

Okies, finally got the "eyecandy" pack downloaded and installed, still took about 4-5 attempts but got there in the end. All I can say is...its a new game totally (to me anyway)! The difference between the old textures and the new are staggeringly different, the old style looks like its been totally revamped and makes the game look like it was only made a coupla years ago, not 10 years ago.
Anyone considering doing this mod should have a go for the eyecandy alone. Just follow "richdog's" guide even though it takes a while to download all the apps needed to do it. Even my 14yr old son is impressed with the difference (just as well as I did all this for him.......and me as well if I'm truthful:p)
I'd like to thank "Richdog" for putting this guide together, must have taken a lot of effort time, thanks mate.:)
 
Is the FS2 Source Windows Installer down? I've been trying to get it this morning but just get a page load error. Anywhere else I can get it from?

Just tried to download again from the link posted in this thread, appears to be working fine mate. You've not got anything loaded that might be blocking it have you?

Woo-hoo that's the kind of post that makes it all worthwhile, congrats! Was the guide easy to use and follow then, are there any bits that caused you issues when reeadint the instrucitons (not including download issues)?

And yeah it took the best part of a day, but it's the type of thing I like doing so it was no trouble really. :)
