'The Union'

The majority of Scottish people don't want independence. Don't mistake a vote for the SNP as a vote for independence.

I wouldn't mind seeing a poll in here. Something along the lines of:

I'm Scottish and I want independence.
I'm Scottish and I don't want independence.
I'm English and I want rid of Scotland.
I'm English and things should stay the same.
I'm from elsewhere and couldn't care less.

Expect to see 99.99999% of people on here saying 'English and want rid of Scotland' judging by how these threads normally go.

Not this AGAIN :(

The Union doesn't matter overall. Even if Scotland voted to end it and become an independent state, it'll do NOTHING. Look at the Republic of Ireland, as an "independent nation" in in the British Isles 95% of its trade is with the UK (a large proportion of that is through the North over the land boarder as well). Socially its very similar and politically its chosen to screw its self over a bit and is paying the price.

The SNP power grabbing for its self for a few years and then when it all goes wrong we will have to pay more to sit on a nice seat and go "I told you so".

Independence and sovereignty pah! *spits on the floor*

Well we haven't had one of these in a while...

OP, why would you vote yes?

Because that's the feeling I get from scottish people I know, that they don't want to be part of the uk. I know they aren't the majority, yet, but that's the road devolution is taking us down isn't it? I always used to support the home nations in sport and the like, but as I get older I notice the anti English sentiment from Scotland more and more.
