Well, finally did it, ripped out the Cloupor mini chip and fitted a DNA40 chip.
Had to drill out the up and down button holes to fit the new buttons and had no room to fit the usb charging board, my soldering iron is a cheap old job and was not hot enough to de solder the negative terminal so had to use crimps...

Here is a we vid for proof...

Please note this is my first real box mod/dna chip upgrade, and yes, the up and down buttons are the wrong way around.. doh!

I knew you would get it done, superb! :D

Cheers Slick, it was by no means an easy job, took near two hours as the space is so confined, there are actually two small screw mounts in between the two magnet posts, this is to secure the battery tray to the case, this reduced the room for the chip and the space between what should be the up button and the edge of the screen, it is so tight that I had to put the chip in with the screen coming from the top, this mean that instead of a having the thin button wires running the length of the case, I had to have the thicker earth wires there instead which really clutters the mod and made it that much harder to cram in.

All in though, im happy enough with it, could have done with the screen being straight and the up/down buttons the right way around... but hey, it has character.... and most importantly it Works!

I think it is an excellent effort, with the incredibly small amount of space you had to work with it looks like it was at the outer limits of even being possible, very impressive!

The buttons being reversed is not an issue at all imo, and I have seen factory built mods (mainly Hana clones) that have had slightly skewed screens.

Cant be many people, if any, that have a DNA40 equipped Cloupor mini! :D

When I first ripped out the Cloupor chip and test fitted the Evolv chip, i thought, nope... not gonna fit, so I re fitted the Cloupor chip, but something must have been damaged as it would not switch back on, so thats when I decided to go for broke, nothing to lose at that point, so glad I Did it too, was an experience and like you say not many will have done it, I had scoured the net and all I can find is people saying they want to try it, nothing about actually being done.
So who knows, it could be the only Cloupor Mini DNA40 at present, which makes it very unique :)

I would suspect that is it is the only one in all honesty. If you put it on ebay it would probably bring a very high price as it is unique, not that I would do that personally as it is so cool I would want to keep it as I am sure you do!

I love it, and I am super impressed that you pulled it off given the tiny space the chip had to be crammed into. :)

To be honest, the thought of selling had not even entered my mind... I loved it as the stock 30w and now ive got the dna40 in it, I love it even more, so wont be parting with it in any hurry. Plus the time and effort that went into putting it together, it's a one off all of my own.

I agree completely, I wouldn't want to part with it either. Enjoy it mate! :D

It looks like China are entering the temp control mod market with the ADT 50w and ADT 120w temperature control mods. No idea on price yet though, very little info at present.

1.ADT 50W mod with temperature control
--Value of resistance:0.1--2.5ohm
--Input voltage:3.3V--4.3V/30A
--Output voltage:1V--9V
--Adjustable Wattage:7--50w
--Frequency:1W for each time
--Adjustable temperature:100--300 centigrade degrees
--Support temperature alarm of ordinary thermal fuse
--USB port/cable for charging

3.ADT 120W mod:
--Value of resistance:0.1--4.0ohm
--Input voltage:6.0V--8.4V/30A
--Output voltage:1V--6.0V
--Adjustable Wattage:1--120w,frequency:1w.
--Adjustable temperature:100--300 centigrade degrees
--Set temperature and real time temperature display

I have been using a Cloupor mini for the last week and man its a nice little device, its deceptively heavy for its size, it actually feels heavier than the IPV2 with dual 18650's but I like that. I like the way volts and resistance are down to 2 decimal places, the magnetic back is great and it seems to last for ages even with a well worn VTC4 in there.

Fantastic little device. Here is a size comparison with a IPV2 and Hana mini.

Nice, Just be careful when you charge it, have you seen all the reports of them combusting? ;)

I've got my eye on a Sig 30w for the missus, would be perfect for her. :)

Also RE the Goblin, new version is out and also out of stock... I want one of them too.

:|

No I haven't! I really appreciate the heads up mate, luckily I have been removing the battery and charging in the Nitecore charger, but that is a worrying flaw!!!

Hmm it says on the Cloupor website that if you attach an atomizer and fire the mod for 15 seconds at 30 watts and it doesn't say Too Hot then it is a good unit, I tried this with a 0.5ohm coil and it did not say too hot and stopped firing after the 15 second limit so hopefully it will be OK, will not be using USB charging though.

Thanks again V_R for alerting me to this issue.

It is a shame as this would have been my new default recommended device over the iStick. I had a mistrust for Cloupor after the T5 firmware fiasco, perhaps I should have listened to my gut feeling!

Roman & Tweak, have you guys had a problem with your (non DNA40;)) Cloupor mini's?

Sounds like you may have dodged a bullet. :D

http://myepack.co.uk/mods/sigelei-mini-30w-box-mod.html

Thats what I might pick up for my GF... Or the iStick 30w...

I think that would be wise my friend, the Sigelei looks great and the company has their **** together IMO. And at that price and with a spring loaded pin which is a nice feature looks to be a super little package.

Such a shame as I was really impressed by the little Cloupor. At least there are nice alternatives like the iStick 30w and mini Sig as you pointed out.:)

Guys the Cloupor minis are not burning due to usb charging, they simply burn after having a battery installed, this has been confirmed on several forums, secondly, a member on ukvapers had a serial model 003, ran the .5ohm torture test and passed... only for the device to burn out later on, so don't listen to any of the hype, these devices are randomly burning up, with no known reason, not through use or charging, just from having a battery installed...

Having said that, mine ran without issue for 2 weeks, never got hot once, I was only using purple efest 35a batteries which I swapped out every night for a fresh battery from a batch of three I have, I did charge once via usb and again had no issue.

The only bad thing I could say about the cloupor mini chip I had was that battery efficiency is not great, I get better battery life now I have the dna40 in it running the same Lemo tank and coil at the same 15-20w range, it just lasts longer.

Thanks for the reply mate. That ain't good then! :(
Seems like these are a bit of a crap shoot to be honest, and its strange that you mention poor battery efficiency as I thought the exact opposite with mine, which is another indicator that their is little consistency with this device.

I don't really know what to do, not sure if I can trust the damn thing now!

Thanks roman, that sounds quite wise. Ah, what a shame!

Well I know the feeling Slick, I have two coming from FT, a friend at the local vap shop is buying one and he is aware of the risks, the other I was going to put in a DNA 40 again, but I have just sealed a deal on an SVB DNA30 and Taifun GT v2...

Now im not sure where to put the dna40...

Vaporflask v2 clone...

Cloupor Mini...

SVB dna30...

Place your votes lol....

I bet a lot of people have purchased the mini as it is very appealing, I don't think I will by a Cloupor product again TBH.

Got to be the 'flask IMO! :D

Oddly enough I popped into a local bricks & mortar yesterday to pick up 60ml of some American dessert/cereal juice & the guy in the shop was singing the praises of the Cloupor Mini, didn't want to burst his bubble as he had given me a bit of discount on the juice (which is lovely by the way but don't ask me the names of them, very odd names)

Cheers all

I must be honest, if V_R had not mentioned the issue I would still have been unaware and would have been telling folks to get one as I was initially very impressed with it. :o

:D Might have to post up the entire collection at some point, though I've got nothing on some of you lot.

I would be very interested to see that if you do post it up. :)

If you like the Marquis and Vertex V2, may I suggest you try the Hobo too... in single coil (only tried single so far), its a bit better flavour wise than the Vertex V2... and is a very stealthy RDA, its rather small :)

Hobo gets a thumbs up from me too, very nice little RDA.

Heh, I don't even use that Kayfun (or the Orchid tbh). They're just there to pad it out a bit :D
As for Nemi's, I don't really use those either as I find them a bit hit and miss and battery life isn't great. Much prefer the Sigs for consistency and power.
The white one is using a hybrid adaptor btw - which looks quality with a Marquis on the SS one. Super clean.

In fact, I may even do a giveaway for the Nemi's at some point.

Give away the Nemi's, DoOd R u HiI??
