***The Vapers Lounge*** 3.0

well, been a while since i posted in here.

sadly the long lived rx2/3 has finally died a proper death, not sure she's savable this time.

back on the old sigelei for now but i kinda want to replace the rx with something similar, i'm only running 2 batteries these days at ~50w.

suppose while i'm at it kinda getting fed up of dripping, have manufacturers finally gotten the hang of wicking their coils properly or is it still the same as ever?

So what are peoples opinions on lung disease related to vaping? More and more cases are popping up in the states with over 1000 cases of lung disease and 11 deaths up until last week. Does anybody know what is causing it, nicotene/VG/PG or a combination of all? I am extremely concerned with this as my wife always has the bloody thing in her hand and is abusing it. When she is on her computer she takes a draw on average every 20 seconds. I have told her to cut down and she has seen the news reports but it usually ends up in a arguement. I make her liquid and have got her down to 3mg of nicotene but she thinks she is still at 6mg. The next batch will be 2mg. I got her on ecigs to get her to quit smoking but that was over 4 years ago and she is still using the damn thing. Now she has some strange illness that the doctor can't seem to find what is wrong. She is short of breath, weak, feeling sick and dizzy. Saturday when we went shopping she had a bad turn in the middle of Asda and looked terrible. Of course she didn't tell the doctor she vapes and sure as hell will never tell her that she is abusing it. I wish I never got her on the bloody things!!

Need to see data, the case I was posted was related to pneumonia which is an infection in the lungs, I'm guessing she was infected due to to the Vale transmitting the infection but not directly from the vaping. Other case say people had been smoking weed so need to see facts.

My ex used to grief me about vaping and showed me the popcorn lung reports and the reports of the kids dying in the US. As my ex is only very recently so, I've hammered my vape a fair bit and can definitely feel it's had a negative effect on my breathing. I am on 3mg and have been from the start. I would imagine the nicotine content probably isn't as much of a factor as the action itself.

One thing that does concern me though. I only use cherry menthol flavours and have used V Juice Tuned in Cherry for ages. The last ones I bought were from a new source online and were cheap. The website has since closed down and I'm sure the vape doesn't taste the same and it leaves my throat very dry and makes me cough a little. I've not got a sore throat but not sure if I've got a cold or perhaps the vape juice is fake. I've now changed to a different liquid to see what happens.

The one thing I don't quite understand about the sudden rush of health scares around vaping is the sudden onset of them. Vaping has been huge for 4+ years now, suddenly we've gone from no reported deaths to 11 in the space of a few months, from what I understand some of these cases were not even long term vapers so it can't be down to cumulative damage.

Something which surprised me was Public Health England's advice on vaping. On the face of it, it says that vaping is far better than smoking and people should immediately switch.

However, if you read the advice in more detail (and perhaps this is obvious with hindsight, but as someone who vaped, I only seemed to read what I wanted to see) - PHE's advice is that smoking is known to cause damage, whereas vaping is not. Therefore, obviously the advice would be to stop smoking. The advice goes on to say that the long(er) term effects of vaping are unknown, but that it is definitely not as safe as not smoking/vaping at all.

For me - I always read PHE advice as vaping is not harmful.

Worrys me. To be honest, if we're all true to ourselves, we ALL know that inhaling stuff into your lungs, isn't good at any level. Looks like this might be the same as when tobacco smoking was starting to be found out to be having bad effects on people. I can see Vaping getting the same health problems as smoking, albeit on a lesser scale, but still damaging.

Back in the 30's, Dr's used to say smoking fags "fortifies you" We just don't know about vaping. Perhaps the effects of vaping are faster hitting the body, than smoking does? We just don't know yet. I think we WILL know soon enough though.

See vaping more and more in the news attributed to diseases and deaths, genuinely interested to know if any one in this thread has become ill and or given up because of the stories?

the thread seems to have gone very quiet.

It can give me sore lungs if I rip the hole out of it being greedy-but don't know if thats a direct blame on vaping or a combined 30+years of smoking behind it and vaping too much.

Looks like the diseases and deaths are linked to teenagers getting high vaping drugs the CDC in America have eventually confirmed.

Tobaco tax in America is paid directly to States, imo, it's looking likeley that they were trying to ban vaping for monetary reasons in a country that you have to pay for your health.

It's not as if they have ever tried to ban tobaco that kills thousands more per day than vaping has.

Politics and personal gain is more important than actually 'finding out' what is what imo.

Don't read the above as 'vaping is safe', I'm still vaping and feel better than when on the fags, but not blind to the fact that there no doubt will be risks, but going off what my body is telling me, I feel better vaping than smoking.

When you combine the lobbying power of big pharma and tobacco and then add to this the tobacco company funded and **** poor science which is then touted as the truth by all the media outlets in the US even after being debunked by peers it’s not hard to see why the US is where it is.

I think most pragmatic people understand vaping is about harm reduction rather than harm elimination, but those with other agendas will always muddy the water when possible.

Well, been vaping for the last 50 days, not needed or wanted a cig so pretty good for a heavy smoker!

Haven’t saved anything yet as I keep upgrading my kit. Now waiting for my first shipment of vg & pg to make my own juice.
