***The Vapers Lounge*** 3.0

I've never been one for mods with built in cells personally, especially LiPo's. I had an iStick 50W previously that was auto-firing even with it switched off. I'd much rather have a mod with removable batteries.

I don't think the Pico/VTC is an advanced mod either imo. Put in a battery, turn it on, set the wattage and you're good to go.

I am currently a smoker and have been thinking more and more of trying Vaping to get off the actual fags.

There seems to be so much out there that I do not know where to start, therefore I am looking for suggestions on what to get to get me started.

Any help much appreciated.

Let us know your budget mate and we can go from there.

Would you prefer tobacco flavoured liquids or something like fruit for example?

That's every mod with a basic VW mode, though.
It's more the TC/TCR stuff than can be accidentally entered and messed with that can cause problems if you don't understand it.
While it may not be cutting-edge über-advanced, it's certainly not easy noob stuff either!

It takes 5 minutes to read the manual/instructions to figure out how to use the device.

Whilst the iStick was a good mod maybe 1-2 years ago, there's much better 'noob' friendly gear out there.

I'm using an iJust2 MINI with Melo 3 NANO tank with ECML 0.75 ohm coils and love it. :)

I've also got an iStick Pico, which I use much less now.

It takes 5 minutes to read, yes... But for someone completely new to vaping to understand it?
If it were that easy, vape forums would not be full of glossary guides and FAQs like "What does it actually mean when they say set your TC ramp wattage with locked resistance"...

They tell you what buttons to press to make it change stuff, but they rarely tell you what it is you're changing and how it affects the vape!!

There are even simpler devices, yes. Press & Go types and so on.
But most lack decent battery capacity, are integral units without a 510 option and will not allow any adjustment, let alone a step into the slightly more intermediate vaping.

I'm not recommending an Evod type device, I'm simply saying the Eleaf Pico/VTC Mini are better mods than an Eleaf iStick. Even a Kanger Kbox Mini is a much more solid device than an iStick imo.

Pair one of those three with say an Aspire Nautilus X, and you have a good starter kit, with the ability to move to a better tank down the line.

There's quite a few new starter kits that are design as fag replacements rather that hobbyist toys.

most devices have they advantages and disadvantages but if the main aim is to give up smoking go for like the;

https://www.juulvapor.com/ or
https://www.eleafworld.co.uk/eleaf-icare-e-cig-kit-and-e-liquid

They are simple all in one devices that are design to supply high nic and small about of vapor like smoking. Heck, I've been meaning to get one or two myself for days I CBA to mess about.

might be worth popping into a local store to discuss stuff with them, they are often meets for hobbyist but most people are helpful, but don't be pushed into getting anything with coils that have less that a 1ohm coils for a starter. :)

EDIT: oh and I won't buy anything till black friday, the sales prices are normally quite good on vaping devices.

My Alien kit just arrived, updated the mod to 1.2.2 stuck my NI Crown tank on, set up temp mode, and its vaping real good! Havent tried the included tank yet, more than likely won't i like the capacity of the Crown

Why not?
Certainly the tank is pretty decent and I still use my one of those occasionally, too.

As a device, yes of course (the Pico being far superior to the VTC, natch :p)... but for newbies, not so much.
You don't stick a freshly qualified pilot behind the controls of a jet fighter...

Even a Kanger Kbox Mini is a much more solid device than an iStick imo.
Until they accidentally put it into TC mode and vape on the wrong wire, or something.
The point is - The more a device can do, the more can go wrong through Newbie-Accidents and the more new vapers will encounter problems and not bother.

Nautilus Mini, sure.
I still use my X, but it's nowhere near as good as it should have been. The only decent things about it are the top-fil and leak-resistant design. The Mini still has the superior flavour.

I'm really not a fan of any of the Smok tanks. I think it's the V8 mini that comes with the alien, right?

Regardless, I have the same set up as you and have done since the Alien released. Damn good choice Sir!

If you have an ECML coil rated at 0.75ohms that sais 8-25w on it, does that mean you shouldn't put more than 25w through it?

I've got it on an eleaf ijust2 mini and have no control over wattage :/

How is the Pico a superior device to the VTC Mini? Both are made by the same manfacturer, both support 75W (80W if you have the Pico Mega) and both do TC. Only difference is the size...

It's not that you shouldn't, it's more a case of that's what the coil works best at, if that makes sense?

As I understand the iJust works direct from the battery, so you might find the coils work better straight off charge and diminishes throughout the day, as the battery gets lower & lower.

Say your mod comes off charge at 4.2v, it's still only going to be putting through around 24w through the coil. Assuming the coil is bang on 0.75ohms. Which isn't usually the case from my experience with pre-built coils as they tend to differ a little.

I'd probably recommend picking up a decent VW mod so you can get the most out of them, without running the risk of burning out the coils. A Pico Mega/VTC Mini would be a good start. Should be around £20-23 from Fasttech.

the baby beast is a solid tank to be fair

is it the same coils as the standard tfv8? like the tfv4 mini, in which case i'd be inclined to agree.

must admit i had the same skepticism as most about the whole hinge top thing, but so far unless you leave the top wide open i've never had a leak, quite the opposite actually i occasionally need to flip the top to releive a bit of vacuum to help wicking.

smaller versions if of them yes.

and no problem here with the hinge lid either, actually really like it as makes filling it up very easy

I don't have the VTC Mini!! :p

Actually, the size is the main reason, although I believe there's something-or-other about the VTC Mini and the VT60 chips that mean the low-battery cut-off safety stuff kicks in far earlier than it should and you get crap performance... I can't recall what it was now, but a lot of people were getting upset by it.

Indeed - I typically find I vape around 5-10 watts under the rated range, depending on which liquid I'm using.

Thanks dude, I've already got an Eleaf iStick Pico 75w which I was using 0.3ohm coils in which are rated at 30-80w I think. I was using them at like 40w, should I put it down to 25w now I've got the 0.75ohm coils which are rated at 8-25w?

I have the iJust2 Mini because it's much smaller and fits fine in my pocket with my wallet when I go out.

Thanks,

G

I ran a VTC Mini for a good 6 months before I gave it to a colleague and I can say I never experienced any early low-battery cut off. I'd check the cells when it would say low battery and I'd put them in my charger, they'd be showing around 3.3-3.4v which is above the correct (safe) cut off for a Li-ion cell.

Funny though as I had a Minikin v1.5 for a while before I sold it. They marketed the chip as having power saving features that lasted 10-30% longer. Turns out the chip just discharged the batteries to ~3.1-3.2v. It's not the first I've heard of Asmodus doing dodgy things. I remember the Snow Wolf disaster.

You may find you can put more than the rated wattage through them, but I'd start off low to help 'bed' the wick. I'm sure you know by now but make sure you fully saturate the wick before you put any high power through it as you'll end up burning the coil and you'll have to chuck it. Might take a tank or two to fully get it going.

I'm PG intolerant and I freeze my VG nic. It's doesn't go solid just really, really thick.
Just leave it out for an hour or two before you try to work with it.

I just stocked the freezer with a couple of litres of 72mg. Should keep me going for a few years.

Done the same thing. I've got a couple of litres in the freezer. At 3mg which I use that's enough for 50ltrs of juice. Should keep me going a while. . .
