They will leak if left on their side for any length of time, due to the wick hole and wick, and depending on if the fill hole is open or closed will determine how quickly that happens - Generally a genesis with a straw wick, with a gap around the wick and wick hole and fill hole open, will start leaking pretty sharpish if left on its side, where as the same setup with the fill hole closed/blocked will leak a lot slower but will still happen.
My RSST can be on its side for around 40mins before it started to come out of the wick itself and into the top cap, Solid wicks slow this down even further and most people with a solid wick it wont leak.
Edit- my Aga-t2 will leak pretty much straight away due to the fill hole being left open and the RSST has it blocked. Also aga-t has a thinner wick compared to the RSST which i think also helps in slowing it down on the RSST compared to the aga.
Cheers for clearing that up.
I can understand it not being completely sealed due to it's design. Like you say about the wick and how tight it is makes perfect sense and obviously having the butt plug in will aid a lot to leaking issues.
What gauge wire and mesh would you suggest getting? (I normally use el toro juices)
I was gonna order it from here:
