I'm back baby!
Rubbish.

I'm not even talking about the Nicolas Cage remake, I'm talking the original.

Britt Eklund was insanely hot as a young'un, but not even with her baps out could she save this film, which is just weird for being weird.

I even guessed at it being a Kubrick it was that strange for no reason.

[edit]There was a lass in it that looked exactly like Kim Cattrall when she was OK looking too.

Watched the remake the other week on Sky, it might as well have just been one of those ITV Dramas. CACK ;)

(and the way Nicolas Cage's name was Edward and the Girls familys last name was Woodward, a step too far )

Most of her nude scenes were a body double.

Don't agree with you about the film though, I think it is powerful and moving, they should never have remade it though.

i'm with nands on this one, found it slightly chilling

but yes, there's something really really hot about the nude scene

I guess in a similar vein to Scarface it had just been talked up far too much and I expected too much of it, when in reality it is nothing more than average.

Like "Sin City" and "The Matrix". Films that film-nerds all rave about, but are actually complete crap.
I recently bought "The Orphanage" because all the FN's said it was amazing - ALARM BELLS - but I got it anyway - and it arrives and the blummin' thing isn't even in English

You didn't know the Orphanage was a foreign film?

I thought it was pretty average too tbh, but that's nothing to do with the subtitles.

.

I think we've established that.
I just went on 'the shopping site' and saw it in the 'top sales'. Decided to order it based on the reviews but there was no indication it was foreign. Bit like how they disguised the fact that the new (awful) Sweeney Todd is a Musical. They hide the bit that will put people off ;)

Gilly

For once, I actually agree with you :p

The film is awful, and the remake is actually a tiny bit better, but is still awful.

It was horrible at first, but it has recently been made even worse. Such a waste of an hour and a half of my life. Total visual diarrhoea.

Now that's funny, the original is a classic and the remake is one of the worst films that I've seen this century.

Agree on Sweeney Todd, such a terrible film. But subtitles are no reason to dislike a film, some really great foreign films out there (Though The Orphanage aint one of them imo).

Watched the new version recently without every having seen the original and I've got to say the new version is slightly more watch able but not by much. The Original what I watch a bit of last seemed to be let down by some very bad acting and dialogue, but that could be due to the age of the film.

Not a film i'd pick up a nd watch again after seeing it once.

Front was Britt, back was a body double. The director thought she wouldn't want to do the full-length shots so brought the double in after Britt finished filming, so the first she knew about it was the premiere. She wasn't happy, and said she would have been fine to do the whole thing.

And yes, it's a great film. Flawed, sure, but a great film with a perfect ending.

Due to this thread and the fact that I hadn't watched it for a long time, last night I watched the last hour of the original and have changed my mind, it is pretty feeble and nearly as bad as the remake.

You are half right there, the matrix, was and still is an amazing film, it nailed the pre millennium feeling and to be fair, there has been no other film that has been so perfectly of its time than the Matrix.

You are right about Sin City, its sucks its own ass, its a god awful pile of crap.
