It is one I've always had in mind to watch, just never got round to it. Closest I got was recording it on Sky+ which then broke not long after.Gilly - Can I call 'im a philistine please? It isn't a personal attack when it is true, it's an absolute defence in law and everything.
All joking aside I'd highly recommend it, the film is just fantastic for the humour, the songs, heck it even has the car chase that was the most expensive in the World for a long time and all for the princely sum of £3 from your local friendly Tesco. In fact if you want I'd even send you my copy to watch and you could return it to me when you are done watching it.
For fans of the original(even though it was somewhat mediocre) I recommend Straw Dogs.
I was disappointed in The Wicker Man when I first saw after so many years of it being hailed as a classic - the same disappointment I felt when watching Straw Dogs.....neither of them really live up to the hype.
I could appreciate the climax of Wicker Man, but it seemed to me that it could only be a "terrifying" movie if you were a devout Christian.
The remake doesn't even bear thinking about -- misogynistic to the max, but it's hiliarious watching Nic Cage run around screaming "bitches!" and flooring women.
I never really found Straw Dogs to be overhyped, and any hype it was given, imo, is well deserved.
I've not seen the W.Man remake, nor do I intend to. What is the purpose of these silly remakes? They're always terrible and they never live up to the original. The Omen remake - perfect example.
