The Wierdo's of MySpace

I like this forum - its got lots of good content, is well moderated and is semi useful in the odd IT related disaster. Just been on the foums of MySpace though and I can't believe the carp they have on there in the public forums! Considering MySpace recieves 4 times more traffic than GOOGLE, I would have thought they'd be super hot with moderation, esp when you think about all the kids on there.

Anyways thats besides the point, I keep getting very odd people who I don't even know trying to add me, and I have to wonder why! I dont mind some people such as the odd person from OcUK adding me but I've had 2 hippies from Alaska try to add me today! How do they even get to my profile?! Do they even have the Interweb in Alaska?!

More of a rant than a post - though I'm new to MySpace so I'm sure I'll figure it outs.

I've had a myspace account for about 18months (I only signed up when you needed to be a member to look at people's photos - I blame a girl at my school who was rather hot) Anyways, bands always seem to add me, and some people my age; it's probably because i'm hot, i can't blame them, lol.

Couldn't agree more. The same goes for that faceparty site, and every site like it. A waste of space imo.

I'm on myspace only for a few weeks but other than the odd pornstar and band trying to add me most of the people on my friends list are people I know or have added me. 80%+ message me and most are female (allegedly). I don't generally add strangers, unless they happen to post in the same groups I do now and then.

I don't see a problem with it, although firefox has been blocking a lot of auto-starting music videos lately, hurrah for adblock

why people feel the need to have them on thier page is a mystery to me.

OCUK is great but if you ask me a little tightly moderated, why I don't post here as often as I use to. Half my posts get deleted if you so much as mention anything outside OCUK, shocked that you can mention Myspace, hope they don't start selling anything on there...

i think its great for bands, shame it gets abused.

pictures, music, biog, all in a quick loading environment. contact info etcetc. super easy for people to access stuff.

I have managed to get a france tour out of myspace as well. and plenty of one off shows around the UK.

works well in my opinion.

the only thing that gets me is people posting videos and audio into the comments of my band. how rude.

Recently joined Myspace out of general boredom, but all I get is dodgy porn starlets trying to add me as they pimp their webcam sites - it's amazing how many people don't tell them to *** off like I do.....Maybe that's why I have no friends on that site.......
