As we know, the new 64bit version of Windows has now gone RTM, so I think its best that we have a central point of reference for this new platform.

Keep all general queries and drivers requests in here, i'm also on the look out for some decent links so if anybody can suggest some, please do.

Useful links

I read somewhere that we could use our XP OEM codes with XP-64? This true?

You'll be able to swap a legitimate XP Pro licence for x64, but your old key wont work.

Also, any benchmarks anywhere, comparing 2001/2003/2005 scores with normal XP?

Concorde
As I understand it, there aren't many benchmarking proggy's that properly support x64, so there arent many (if any) sites I could link you too. Be better to wait until its properly released anyway so all the obvious drivers arent in beta stage.

There is a slight contradiction between the two sites:

Main MS Site said:
If you built your PC yourself or have purchased it through a system builder, you can make the exchange through the link to the right.

The order page said:
In order to be eligible to receive Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition, your computer must have been ordered between March 31, 2003 and July 31, 2005 with Microsoft Windows® XP Pro (32 Bit) preinstalled.

Can either risk it for a biscuit, or wait for cliarification.

HP have been quite good with releasing x64 drivers for their most recent printers, however i've yet too see any drivers for their older printer models.

I imagine there will be drivers for the 7350 at some point, as its not exactly old, but currently I cant find any.

EDIT: Although someone has found a work around:

Thank You very much for the tip Muzz and also Ravin. I was able to get my HP Photosmart 7350 to work properly using the Deskjet 930C drivers

http://www.planetamd64.com/lofiversion/index.php/t2812.html

Those drivers are bundled with XP64.

EDIT2: That thread implies that Photosmart drivers aren't far away though.

hi, had the beta but have recently installed dlink wifi card, are there any drivers out or in development for these cards??
Hi :)

DLink have been one of the less helpful brands so far as the consumer has been concerned. There have been no x64 drivers released for any of their products, public or otherwise.

A quick google show's some people have tried to get at least an ETA out of them, but even that info hasn't been disclosed.

The ball is firmly in their court i'm afraid.

From a client perspective, you are - to an extent - correct Lanz. In the server market however you are quite wrong. There are immediate benefits to be had with many enterprise applications.
