Spoiler: You should've been given one as soon as you left your jail cell to go and kill the cockatrice. Check your inventory to make sure it's not on your back.

You should have your steel sword from act one and a silver sword by the time you get there.

What you're doing carrying a rusty one is beyond me!

If you have a save for right at the beginning of act two then go back to that.

I'm guessing most people are playing on medium diffficulty?

I am playing on normal, I was tempted to go easy though.

Aye the steel and silver witcher's swords have no stats, they do damage based purely on the skills you choose in your character progression. You shouldn't need any other two weapons in the whole game.

Get back to that save and stick with the witcher's swords.

The loading is too quick to notice for me since I upped my RAM speed to 1000MHz 4-4-4-12.
