Does anyone suffer from tearing issues? i.e. it seems the vsync isnt enabled in game?

I have tried to enable vsync to always on in latest catalyst drivers 7.10 it still suffers... any ideas?

Edit: Got the game this morning, and have to say its excellent!

There is a fair bit of tearing, but I have spent years conditioning myself not to notice anymore.

The only issue I have with the game is that you are going to spend allot of time staring at loading screens. The engine does seem to cache areas in memory so when you go from a large outdoor area into a small building and then back again you have to wait for the whole thing to load again.

I played a couple more hours this morning (6 in total now) and already I can safely say this is the best game I've played all year, easily!....and probably the last couple of years, but still got a long way to go yet. Apparently there is at least 80 hrs gaming for one run through as an average gamer if you do most all quests available to you etc (120 hours in total, as depending on descions made you don't see all of it in one go).

It's not just another generic rpg (even tho some things will be familiar), this game is very unique in so many ways. A very refreshing change indeed! If you are looking for another sandbox type game like Oblivion then you will be a bit disappointed, but you don't feel excatly railroaded either. Plenty to explore and do on your own whim. And the world is more harsh (realistic imo). In short, The Witcher is what Gothic 3 SHOULD have been. Any one who played Gothic 1 + 2 will most likely love this. But it is still different enough from those games with very much its own style also.

The alchemy system is incredibly deep and meaningful for a change, not some tacked on curiosity. The magic system also looks well structured too. General combat is not a revelation but its very fun once you get some diff combos/moves to try. As in, it seemed a bit awkward at first but becomes quite natural and involved (just like the old Gothics were).

The Aurora engine which the game is based on is almost unrecognizable to the NWN series. Its been tweaked to look very latest gen and graphically it looks great (with everything turned up). The art style is superb also, which I consider more important to imersion anyway. And the whole things runs a lot smoother. This is what Obsidian should have done with NWN2!

yep good review :) getting it later today not for 17.97 though none of the asda stores had it but i have points to redeem on a card to put towards the price in another shop

That is a great mini review Ozzie Dave.

The graphics stand out because it does not quiet look like any of the new games which are shiny, bumped and pixel shaded, but end up looking blandly plasticky. The artwork and detail in the game is awesome and the integration of cut scenes with game play give it a unique cinematic style not often found RPG's. I have mentioned this before but it is great too see a game when the scale of buildings and environment look right and not like NWN2's toy town.

You guys are going to be sick of me as when I am not playing I will be posting. This game needs all the attention it can get instead of all the other sterile cra..p people like to post about.

I have it set to Always On in catalyst control panel... and still has tearing...

Am I the only one who suffers from it? Or should I say notices it

edit: seems to be a known issue in Vista (I use 64bit)

Supposedly if the game doesnt have a Vsync option, even if you enable it in Catalyst Control panel, it wont help as Ati drivers dont work too well regarding this issue.... and Vista :(

Anyone played this on a rig that is at, or just above the minimum requirements? What is performance like?

Just finished chapter 1. If all the other chapters are this good then it's game of the year for sure. Feels great to be playing a proper game again that you can't complete in a single sitting.

^^^: Thanks. Will be parting with cash at lunchtime!

i was trying to get it today. but that place where i could redeem points off my card has this game at £39.99 !!! (same price for both CE and normal version aargh)

So i probably wont be able to get it today as i dont really want to pay more than £25. I could get it online next day delivery i guess hrmm
