Me to - am on act 3 and have had only one CTD and that was at the end of a 4 hour playing session.

I know that when a game keeps crashing peops that it is a pain, it is annoying esp when you hear about a load of other people have no problem. It is more annoying when you find that their spec is not much different to yours.

So spare a thought for the devs; if two peoples spec are basically the same and one keeps crashing then really there is not a lot they could do about it. All the play testing in the world would not completely get rid of these cases. You obviously have something installed or configured which the game doesn't like - I bet the devs would have a hard time figuring it out.

Welcome to PC gaming - it can be a frustrating as hell.:D;)
 
on the mission dead hand of the past, ive killed all of the branch monster things but what do you do next? i cant find his friend anywhere

Nevermind ive got it now, it was hiding :)

Firstly a quick question. What is dog tallow. on act 2 I need to collect six of them.



Secondly, I presume you have all met the druid girl in the swamp :). I was impressed with her gardening skills. Her bush was really well trimmed :). I also presume you gave her one :) she didnt give me the options the first time but I went back to a save and she was gagging for it :)

LOl ive had a good laugh with this game. My most memorable moment was on act 2 coming out of one of the houses in the north. I got jumped by an assasin. I cast the telekinesis spell on him which stunned him Then killed in him in one move. His head flew off and rolled down the stairs to the courtyard below. Was well impressed with that :)

wow that big beast dog is really hard tried twice to get past it but no look, think i will pick it up again tomorrow. Ive already had 3 crashes so far i hope its not going to be a common thing :rolleyes:
 
How do you kill The Beast, its over so quickly i cant think of what to do, i dont have any swallow potions left which is pretty silly of me.
 
this game rocks hard,i only bought it because of this thread!!! they shoulda promoted this more! i am one of those getting random CTD's but it isnt annoying enough (yet) to stop, the game is that good lol i have patched to 1.1 but its still doing it, any ideas guys??
 
Only had 1 error so far, and that was because i was spam clicking a cutscene before a boss i had seen for about 15 times.
 
Went to play last night and had a problem where my recent save game would 'load' but the loading screen was still fully visible. So I could move around and still open inventory and the like [could hear sound effects] but couldn't actually play!

Luckily a previous autosave from 15mins before still worked so no biggie.

Game is so good though I can live with the odd issue :D

Firstly for the others mentionin crashes. It sounds like a hardware/driver issue to me. I ve played this now for over 20 hours without a crash. I think it is one of the most stable games i've played.

Ok here's my advice for the beast.

1. make a swallow pot!
2. make a blizzard pot.
3. check the journal for the best stance. From memory you wont have silver sword so I think its steel - Z. Hard stance

When it comes to the fight double click "s" key to roll away from hound. Quickly drink swallow and blizzard. Blizzard really is your friend here as it slows everything down and makes gerard a lot harder to hit/bite. I didnt use telekenisis sign when I first did this but now I cast this all the time to stun the enemy etc. (if you have added stun/knockdown as a bronze upgrade)

i would go back to one of my saves but i'm on the laptop working today.

One over thing i saved Abigail the witch and she helpd heal me during the fight if I remember rightly

Finally completed it and the ending trailer was awsome! , what a brilliant game... GOTY for me but the ending left some things unanswered though

Did i marry Shani , or are they leaving that till witcher 2?
 
update regarding the dog tallow quest on act 2


I have killed 3 dogs. I have to say I am not happy with the moral decision killing innocent dogs. They are only strays, surely someone could give them a home. The worse thing is that when you attack them they highlight red but dont fight back and just howl. Got to say this is a sick quest

I didn't kill a single dog for mine, i found them all in barrels etc in houses, and some mobs drop them to.

I'm on act 4 and haven't had a single crash, working ok here.

Im really liking the game so far. Its getting better and better but I hardly think that a gamespy review is worth anything when on their main pc games page there is a big massive advert on the right hand side for the game. Conflict of interest?

ack I never realised I could collect them! I must admit I wasnt happy at killing the poor little things. When I approached they sniffed at me and then I was forced to plunge my sword into them repeatedly while they howled but wouldnt attack me back :(. I think in real life i'll make a donations to the RSPCA to make me feel better.

BtW have been playing about 5 hours solid and just had my first crash which i'm not too worried about.

Yes, welcome to the commercial side of these so called unbiased reviewers. Its the same with things like HIFI mags too. At the end of the day they won't badly review anything if it is from one of their major sponsors. Thats my cynical opinion. Altho IMHO this definately deserves its positive accolades.
