The worst service you've ever received?

Santander by a million miles.

GF had a business account and on two occasions last year they lost her cheques paid in over the counter. One lot turned up 2 weeks later and one lot 7 weeks later. No apology, nothing.

A friend also had her account comprimised a couple of years ago. It took them 9 months to get it back and her money. She got £18 compensation.

Absolute bunch of cowboys.

Citi Link are another firm that just should not still be trading. Over the course of 9 years whilst living in London not one parcel ever got delivered, regardless if I was in or not.

BT once threatened me with bailiffs after I informed them that the final bill on my (deceased) Uncle's account may not be paid for a while, due to complications with his will.

That took a couple of hours of heated phone calls to resolve. Especially torturous was the conversation with a fella who actually seemed to struggle with the concept of death.

Not me who personally experienced this but Admiral Insurance take the biscuit for the most awful customer service I can think of.

My brother was in a pretty horrendous car accident last year. The bloke 1 car in front of my brother was hit head on by a drunk driver and the driver was killed instantly while my brother could not stop in time and piled in underneath both cars.

All involved were taken to hospital but my brother had a very lucky escape and was sent home later that day.

My brother phoned Admiral later that night to give them the police incident number and to resigster the accident. The police had explained that was all he had to give them and that it would promt the insurers to retrive all the relevent information directly from the police.

Admiral grilled my brother for 30 minutes asking him why he had not gotten detailed information on all parties involved and tried to tell him that a police incident number was not sufficient and he would be billed if he could not supply the information as the police charge for supplying information. When my brother tried to explain that the reason that he did not have any of the details was because one bloke was dead, the other on life support and he had to be cut out of his car and taken directly to hospital he was told that was not a valid reason and he had 24 hours to supply the relevant information.

The bloke on the phone was very unsympathetic and patronising and refused to accept that my brother had not even been able to ascertain names of the other drivers involved. At one point he asked my brother how he knew the chap had died as he was not a doctor. For 30 minutes they refused to even take the incident number over the phone insisting that my brother had to supply details before they could proceed. It was even suggested that my brother phone the hospital or get someone to take him there to get the information required!

I have never seen my brother break down in tears in 28 years but the bloke from Admiral managed it in little over 30 mins.

Our whole family, 9 policies in all, have since stopped using them for our insurance. Each one has written a letter explaining the reasons why we have cancelled the policy and not one has had a response.

I don't think I can be as disgusted by any customer service as I am by Admiral's.

Probably Carphone Warehouse.

Bought a Nokia phone off them many years back, phone would crash randomly. Took it back and the bloke actually shrugged his shoulders at me when I told him.

It took all my strength to not break his nose.

As I left I lost it a little, turned around and threw the phone hard down the length of the store, smacking the ****er on the back of the head. It felt so good, and was a damn good shot by my standards.

I will never buy anything from them again, and I still take great joy in telling their pestering sales assistants to leave me alone if I ever go in there to browse, as i'd never give such a bunch of thieves any of my money.

Legal & General Call Centre

2 cars in the family covered by then - lets call them car A and car B.

Car A is then crushed by a bin lorry and it was a write off so we got a pay out for it.

Used money to buy Car C

Rang L&G (Indian CC) and asked to cover car C - seemed to go well

3 weeks later pulled over by the law and charged with driving without insurance in Car B. Yes you guessed it that call centre messed the whole flipping lot up and we were paying for insurance for Car A (in a scrap heap) and Car C.

I recieved a court date, spoke to the Indian CC 4-5 times and each time they protested their innocence and apparently it was my fault even though they could see on record the car was written off.

In their defense - 1 really rude call to UK head office and they supplied enough paperwork to convince the law that I was actually covered (when I wasnt so fair play).

So in reality my beef is with that Indian Call Centre

EA without a doubt I have one person from customer service call me a liar when I was on the phone... I'm still waiting for my $40 discount coupon and them to contact me back... I have talked to some horrid companies but EA takes the biscuit!!!

Stelly

Yep, EA is the first thing that popped into my head.

Has got to be BT.

Ordered infinity sent over mac codes had a date booked for installation, took a day off holiday. No one showed up. Called up no one even knew anything about it. 5 phone calls later i have another date booked. Took another day off, no one showed up, by this point had no internet for 1 month and a half. Because they messed up the transfer i had to get broadband on the line first and then be upgraded to infinity. took me 2 half months to get infinity installed and then i had to argue with them about the first three months free and they have since over charged me. Every step of the way was painful and i wouldn't recommend BT for a second. when the 24 month contract ends i am going to cancel it and go with another supplier.

Just-Eat, no matter how many times i say "NO MAYONNAISE" they always put mayonnaise on my food, gat dang-it!
I asked for no mayonnaise in my burger from M&S today... get back to my desk ready to tuck in... guess what? They put in MAYONNAISE! Guess what else? They didn't just add mayonnaise to one side of the bun as they normally would... they added it to BOTH!

#######'s!

Motorola/SBE Limited (the repair centre)

My Atrix broke 3 months after I got it. 15 months later, it was still not repaired.

Motorola refuse to accept responsibility - saying there was a 12 month warranty and any SOGA/EU Directive is the responsibility of Orange. (If it was their responsibility, they did a very good job of denying it even when asked directly if it was their responsibility.)

I had sent it off well before the 12 month warranty expired, it was returned "repaired" and case closed. When it came to the 1 year mark suddenly Motorola could do nothing. It was a problem from 9 months previous!

SBE do nothing except lose the phone (they did find it again) - they can't diagnose the problem and send the phone back in a worse condition than when I had sent it.

No longer an Orange customer. No longer a Motorola customer.

I could go on and on about Orange, here is one relating to the above:

I enquired about the upgrade options on the Motorola contract. Just enquiring. First guy (after telling him the above story) offered me 25% discount, HTC One for free and continuing of my £25/mo contract. He was cut off for whatever reason, manager cut him off or he knew he couldn't actually do that deal whatever. I phone back and the next person not only cannot offer me the same, says I was lying about it.

For some reason this made me laugh my head off.

+1. Numerous calls and forum posts about multiple bugs in FIFA 13, NFL 13, etc. "We are waiting on a patch sir, thank you sir, anything i can help with sir?" - just idiots - 7 months later and still no fix for the game, or a refund - "we cannot do this sir".

Jamie's Restaurant (Jamie Oliver chain) in Leeds.

Order a £17/18 seafood risotto (clams, prawns, white fish etc.) and got 1/ONE/A SINGLE prawn in it. Spoke to the waiter who didn't really seem bothered. He went to speak to the manager, who came over and said these exact words:

"I understand you think we're ripping you off?"

I never said those words at all, but anyway. He then went on to explain that the portions are carefully measured out and that I should only have got 2 prawns anyway, so it wasn't that bad really and nothing to be so upset about. You really don't want to hear this when you've spent the best part of £20 on a main. Anway, off he goes, then 5 minutes later comes back, when I'm pretty much on my last mouthful with a bowl full of over cooked rubbery prawns and tosses them on the table, without so much as a "there you go, sorry".

Went a month before with my parents and my dad's main came out cold once, luke warm the second time and overcooked the third time because they just blasted in the microwave.

It truly is a rip off that place. Especially when you see Jamie Oliver on TV dribbling all over his dishes, going "whack a bit o that in, chuck a load of this in! etc.

Two prawns.

What a disgrace.

Should have stood your ground and not paid (Shouldn't of eaten it either) just send it back and say that unless you're happy then you're not paying

Oh and ASUS. Will never buy one of their products again. Tried to return a Crosshair IV motherboard only to be told as I had removed the backplate the warranty was invalid. To be fair, I could not find it, but the simple fact that it is a motherboard designed for hardcore overclocking and you cannot hardcore overclock unless you fit a custom cooler which involves taking off the backplate just boggles the mind.

Co-op Bank

I opened a business account with them a posted a £10,000 cheque to start things off
Phoned a week later to see why cheque not in my account to be told it could take a fews days
Phoned another few days later and was fobbed off with same excuse , left it another 2 days.
Phoned again asked to speak to someone who could trace what happened to discover that
one of the idiots they employ to manually enter cheque info had miss typed it and
put the 10K into another persons account , took 3 days after that to get it sorted.

Second worst , ordered a £1,050 30" screen off a computer parts company which I obviously cannot name here.
Screen faulty asked to have replaced (asked for them to use their courier to pick it up , they said no) so I had to use parcel force and insure it (expensive)
Second screen was faulty (batch fault) , I also returned it at my own expense and asked for my postal charges to be refunded , they refused saying it
was too expensive a service I used to return it (was only carrier who would touch it) ,
fought for weeks and the eventually refunded my £120+ return charges
