The Z77 Sabertooth Club.

Great board, but I'm getting a lot of whine from the central 40mm fan. Its speed seems to fluctuate over the course of a few seconds. I've tried changing it to "silent" in the BIOS and also tried FanXpert to keep it quiet but it still sounds bad. I might swap it out for a Fractal Design 40mm fan (would match my case :D )

Took a couple of pics as I was putting in the CPU and mounting the Gelid Tranquillo heatsink:

Actually, I have a question.

In the BIOS and AI Tuner options I get are just Auto and Manual, there's no XMP option. Am I missing something?

Also, the version 1015 of the BIOS is now on the Asus website. Will install that tonight.

About to buy a Z77 kit - Before I whip out ye olde creditcard can anyone answer the following ?

With the SUPER-low profile Samsung green memory - Would I be able to fit the Alpenfohn K2 on the board, without raising any of the fans ? I am slightly worried about the thermal-armor at the IO-shield, seems abit tall.

My FT02 got a 165 clearing for the CPU-cooler, so if I can put it on the board, without touching the fans, its all good.

This is how i have mine set up in Thermal Radar. It is off almost all the time, unless i either game or do some rendering, in which case i don't really care about the noise :D

It is quite possible you do not have XMP settings stored in your memory. What stick do you use?

I have a question for any of you guys. It seems my CPU thermal sensor in Thermal radar is broken.

When the CPU is idling it reflects the temperature almost identically with core temp, however when i fire up Prime95 it kind of freezes @ around 50C and will not reflect if the temps go higher.
See screenshot to get a better idea of what i'm talking about:

See how there is about 12C difference between ThermalRadar and CoreTemp?

Can you guys check with your boards to see if you are getting the same mismatch?

Thanks

It`s the same with the P67 version.
Radar idle temp about 21-22c, Coretemp about 28c.
With Prime95 Radar about 48c and Coretemp about 58c.

A little puzzled as to why the temps on the Z77 Radar are overall, higher than the P67.

I'm having problems with Lucid Virtu.

I've downloaded the latest files from the Asus Website and for Win X64.

When I run Lucid I get this:

When I try and run the drivers for the Integrated Intel graphics chipset (also downloaded from the Asus Website) I get this:

When I connect the HDMI cable from the monitor to the Sabertooth I get no picture at all.

Has anyone any suggestions please?

You need to enable the on-board graphics in BIOS as they are disabled by default.

Is that fan noisy? Always hated them fans on old boards as they would make an annoying noise.

Does anyone know if any of those corsair ram coolers would actually fit on this style of clip + Samsung green?

The Tranquillo is great - you will have no problems with RAM. All 4 slots are clear of the heatsink.

It's *very* quiet. I was impressed considering how cheap it was. Also, it's simple to fit a different 120mm fan if you find that it's too noisy.

ive almost finshed my sabertooth!

its my first build and i think ive done well
so far i have 4.6ghz on the 3770k i7 with (in my opinion) the best mobo, sabetooth z77! my voltage is 1.26 they say 1.3 is the limit on that cpu

Hi all , loving this board now i've got my head around the UEFI Bios lol
Got my IvyBridge to 5.0ghz quite easily but need to have a mess around some more with mem and lower voltages etc , sure it'll take me weeks to get it just right.
Here's a piccie of my build.
