theHunter: Call of the Wild

haha nice. been smashing the diamonds last week. also new clues about a safari lodge maybe a new reserve to go with it and fallow deer get truracs soon. lots going off.

having played thehunter games for 12 years now to get the best from them you need to put in the time to learn those game mechanics you talk about. you can play casually just blasting stuff as well but the real gem is in learning how to play it.

if you struggling to get decent animals find need zones or drinking times for each animal then visit water.

tents at key locations also save many hrs of just roaming around. you can kill animals quickly and easy. real trophy animals are rare though. for eg i spent hrs every day for 2 months to get a diamond trurack mule deer.

the funny thing is many people when new do struggle and think there isnt many animals there is actually thousands on each reserve. so its really clever how the game works and makes you think there is nothing. i would watch some video guides and get to know the game better. it is really good once you get to grips with it.

here is a image of the animals on the reserves and data to help.

the sheet i gave you has the drinking times on it and feeding times and rest times. give it a look. then you find the species you want then go to the relative need zone for that time. so ingame time 12 oclock see what animal or species is drinking at that time. if you find a need zone it will tell you when and how many visit that spot at the time they drink eat sleep.

I did have a little go earlier, spawned into one of my tents on the African map and a legendary Cape Buffalo appeared at 350m and then once shot despawned at about 410m which got me thinking.

The game bases animal quantities on your draw distance settings in the gpu graphics quality section. Whilst a 3080 can easily max this game at 4K it is still very much a demanding game nearing 100% gpu usage. If you lower the draw distance you may not get animals until 300m or even 200m.

flat draw distance regardless of pc will be about 420m. elevated its upto about 500m.

Just googled it, it’s the scene complexity setting that determined at what distance animals spawn into view. I say ‘determined’ all the stuff is from 2018 so this may have been changed.

as said aboiut 420m flat and 500m about elevated. its basically maths pythagorean theorem . to get the longest shot you need to be up as high as possible then the distance in length. which is about 500m. i have guides on how to shoot this far.

i wouldnt get to deep into that starting out. basically most shots will be 100 - 200m. if you shoot at range sometimes animals wont spook or as much so its good to dial in that sort of range.

i mainly use 243. 7mm and the 338.

broadside is often more reliable. as you need to hit a vital organ for max trophy score.

i use only poly tip bullets whether close or long range.

same with anything its just how much time you invest or go about doing so. theHunter games do get better the more time and understanding of how they play. atleast you enjoyed 60 hrs of it. i probably spend that much time on em in two weeks. :p

it does warn you even early on. had mine barking when animals are close like puma water buffalo. as you level train your dog up there is perks which you can cater to your hunting style. one of the last ones is a predator fending perk. so will be interesting how that works.

ive videos on the dog myself. also just making a new one to go out today as i type this :D
