Theme park rides which you found too excruciating to enjoy

Montu, Busch Gardens, Florida. It is huge and when walking towards it, as the ride goes literary over your head, feel need to duck just in case to get hit on the head by the dangling legs.

Dad (obviously too old for rides now) - his face went pale on the sight of it. He was mid 40s then.

He never reacted to other rides like that
That's an awesome ride, it's a B+M so it's actually pretty smooth when you're on it despite pulling some Gs.

One of my faves from Florida was Dueling Dragons at Universal, it was two inverted coasters that raced each over with several bits where your feet nearly hit the feet of the people on the other one. Think there were instances where that actually happened

Went to Phantasialand while in Cologne for the chrimbo markets one year. One of the first rides we went on was Crazy bats, a VR rollercoaster.

Soon I discovered VR was very much not for me when combined with motion, felt sick as a dog...

Decided to take it easy with a flat ride, and randomly chose the Feng Ju Palace, thinking it was a walk around mad house type thing like another in the park. Nope. Full spinning room. https://www.phantasialand.de/en/theme-park/one-of-a-kind-attractions/feng-ju-palace/

Possibly the most excruciating minutes I've spent on a ride. Stared at the non-moving table in front as closing my eyes or looking around did not do me wonders.
There's one of these at Alton Towers, called Hex.

I was a bit scared of rollercoasters until recently. :o

Went back to Thorpe Park recently and thought 'just do it'. Conquered Stealth so I am happy. :)

Stealth is pretty awesome. 0-80mph in 2.6 seconds or something. Quite a jolt. Humans aren't meant to move at those speeds!

Rock n roller coaster at disneyland Paris is just a pure assault on the senses, I was ok but some of the riders were traumatised.

Not a rollercoaster but the worst was this. I don’t really like heights so I will never know what possessed me to go on this.

**** That .... No.

When I worked offshore I had a few times where we had to be crew changed by support ship. That means being hoisted 100m in the air then dangling swaying in the wind before being lowered onto the deck of a ship.
Did in countries where health and safety wasn't really adhered too, so hang on tight were going in 3, 2, 1....
I'm scared of heights too...
It does look insane being up that high at sea though...:p

I had been on one before, in Gardaland I think. I thought it was great, really does feel like you defy gravity. But this time, not quite as enjoyable.

I'd also never go on any form of slingshot ride. Do not trust them in the slightest.

I've not been on many but the one I found most uncomfortable (but fun at the same time) was the Sonic ride at Alton Towers. The seats rotate while going along so you can't anticipate the turns. It surprised me more than some of the bigger rides.

Can handle big drops fine but rides that rotate at speed and make you dizzy are not for me.

In terms of being just uncomfortable it was one of the wooden rollercoasters in Busch gardens. It was just so old clunky and jerky, but still not too bad.

I love rollercoasters but generally can't deal with anything that just spins as I get real bad motion sickness from it. Coasters are fine even the loops and corkscrews don't bother me, but put me on the teacups and spin me and I'll hate my life and then throw up

Woo... a fairground / roller coaster topic on Overclockers! This is my topic as I love rides / coasters. Nemesis, Oblivion, Smiler, Ripsaw, Rita = no problemlo for me. I love heights, so the aforementioned Star Flyer is cool with me too. Love the Waltzers, and those tall propeller rides (usually called Booster or Booster Maxx) and the larger cousin called Gladiator Turbine.

There are only 2 rides that I really struggle with.

They are:

a) Submission at Alton Towers, which hangs you upside down for a few seconds (but seems like an eternity.
b) King Loops (fairground ride), which is like a tradtional Breakdance but it has roll-over cars. Gave me a headache for the rest of the day.

Never been sick on a ride though.

Something you MUST avoid at all costs when at a fairground or a theme park, is Slush Puppies! The chill from the drink gets to your head and it will amplify any headaches that you already have. Submission + Slush Puppies = death!

I love rollercoasters and theme park rides but for me there are 2 rides I will never do again.

Space Mountain (Orlando). I am just shy of 6' 2" and I did this ride probably 4 or 5 times in 2 weeks and I hated it. I know I was in no danger but in the darkness with the infrequent lights, I could see the framework of the ride. I know I was nowhere near it but as the glimpses were so fleeting I was convinced I was going to smash my head against some structure. The only reason I did it multiple times was the daughter of people I was in Orlando with, loved the ride and she could twist me round her little finger.

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Orlando). Turns out I don't enjoy being dropped like that. I wasn't scared, it just made me feel sick. I never got to try a foot long hotdog because of this ride.

I also dislike spinning rides.

I need to go to a theme park next year.

Every ride in the UK that is "thrill", to me, sucks!

Perhaps it is the issue that parks like thorpe Park are over filled with these types of rides, or it's the typically rubbish weather, but I can't be bothered with UK parks any more as they just aren't fun. They seem designed to make you feel sick and nothing else

The wildest ride I have ever had was the swings in kiddies playground when I was a kid.
Never been on roller coaster etc and never will. My brain says they will just fly off.

I don't know if you are all absolutely nuts or incredably brave. (nuts) :D

Problem with the waltzers is I always seemed to be stuck on the end, usually with a fattie next to me, so at every spin, I’d get squashed to death by everyone piling into me.

The last time I went to Alton Towers was about 10 years ago and we got lucky as it was glorious weather. Would have been a nice day out even without the rides.

After that I realized I'd experienced peak theme park in the UK. Thorpe Park might be good for junkies but as an overall experience it doesn't appeal to me.

Fun fact about the Tower of Terror rides, it isn't a free fall drop, it gets pulled down faster than gravity by the lift mechanism

That would be a forced drop tower. Air is compressed at the top which can take 1-2 minutes for it to build up. The cylinder which holds the air is attached to the gondola which then pushes the gondola down at a speed faster than free fall. Instead of 0g (free fall), it produces negative g.

I went on one called Drop Zone.

Bit different to that as Tower of Terror goes up and down repeatedly. It's basically the same mechanism as a normal passenger lift but can pull down fast for the negative Gs
