Easy one for me.

8th December 2004 I passed my test, and due to being 18, and not working I knew I had the fun of no car for a fair while, I was right.

Then, when I eventually got a job, and got some money, so in September 2006 the car hunt started, initial budget of £1500, and looking around I couldnt find sod all. As above, Fox pimped the mondy that much he actually made me want one and I found loads of them, but unfortunately insurance said nooooooooooooo at a whopping £2500. After the realisation I was not going to get a Mondeo, I turned my looks to other areas, Saxos, Fiestas etc, and I didnt like any of them, they were too small and cramped. Then finally, after months of looking, out of the blue..........Pug 306. Small, but big enough for me, fun to drive, and a reasonable price. So went looking at phase 1 and 2 306s, but they were all old and crap bangers, so my parents jumped in and agreed to throw £1k in as long as my mam could drive it too, fair enough. Phase 3 306 here we come, took 3 out, and bought the 3rd one.

£2500 lighter I had my V Reg, 1.4 306. Picked her up on the 21st October 2006, still got her.

Yes its more than it should have been, buts its in mint condition bodyork wise, and a solid runner.

Only car Ive owned, dont know what next, Im tempted by 2, a Teg of some sort, or a 306 GTI6 as a love this car, just wish it had more poke.

For me it was a fairly large scale jump. I went from the ever powerful Daewoo Matiz 0.8l red love wagon.

To be honest, it may look like crap but was a great car sooo cheap to run was getting like 50 - 60mpg and nothing ever went wrong.

Then in May 2007 i got myself a MGF VVC 1.8i

great car, but soon to be changed for a Lotus Elise S2.

Heres mine :D

Oh god, i have had a bit of a hodge podge!!

Well, when i first entered into the fray of motors!! Here was my first chariot - UKR850X!!
Hq7.jpg

That was it towards the end before it got written off, it was a bit of a wreck when i bought it, but i spent a lot of time and money working with a local mini garage to get it to a usuable everyday car. I did use it for about a year before a volvo estate rear ended me!! (it also had three different engines in its time with me) My god it was fun!

Ok, so I needed a car quickly, and my nan let me buy hers for 500 quid! This would do for a runabout till i could find what i wanted to buy, and insurance sorted itself out!

- trying to find a pic of the corrolla!

Great little motor, did a shedload of miles in it, and abused it horribly, never once went wrong (oh, apart from when i nailed the exhaust attempting to jump a ridge off-road!) Peanuts to get a new exhaust fitted! Sold it for 500quid after a year or so.

From here i took a little bit of a step! The rolla was great, but lacking in power and comfort really. So luckily my dad had bought a BMW 525i whilst he was waiting for his new car to be delivered. This then became available. I payed him the princley sum of 100 quid for it. A 1992 525i SE Auto with 167 miles on the clock! (u can see the corolla in the background!)

bmw3.jpg

The day i bought it.

30,000 miles later!

spoiler3.jpg

Just before it died! (HGF - which i made a start at fixing, but it turned out the autobox was dead too) This was then shipped off to a mate of my brother who broke it for the shell and a few other bits, he had a crashed M5.

During this time, i borrowed my dad's 1974 MG for a week or so before i bought one of the most fun things i had ever bought up to that point!

hans3.jpg

My volvo 480 turbo called Hans! I bought him for 411 quid on ebay whilst looking for another BMW. He was a total legend of a car, bits falling off everywhere, but always worked. Not to mention he was rather rapid! He got dinged, but survived rather well, eventually being sold for 110 quid on ebay

BECAUSE i had bought this...
bm2ebay1.jpg

47k 530i for £1850

Which ended up being this...

piston1.jpg

This was sold last week on 67k after a year of ownership for £1500

Which brings us onto the latest part of the story!
My new beasty!!

Well my motorbike history started of with the purchase of an Apprilia Area 51 scooter, it was a good little thing, i managed to get 62mph out of it:D

When i turned 17 i then moved one step up onto a 125cc bike, i managed to get a really nice, brand new Honda Varadero 125. It was a good little bike! Was excellent for MPG!!

Sorry there are now pics of these 2 bikes but there are more to come :D

About 2 years ago i passed my Bike test so i had a much more vast choice of bikes i could buy.

This was my first 600cc bike....
DSC00405.jpg

A Yamaha Fazer 600, and what a fantastic bike!!
Sadly as some of you may remember, back in january a mondeo pulled out infront of me and wrote the fazer off...

DSC00546.jpg

After a few months i decided to purchase a brand new Yamaha FZ6, i loved my last fazer so much i wanted another one!

DSC00656.jpg

It was a great bike for me, the only thing i had against it was that i found the power was a little to high up for me, it seemed i had to scream the engine to get the power out of it!

But this had to happen to it.....

24092007088.jpg

24092007087.jpg

So there i was again looking for another bike...

I now have a 2005 Honda CBR 600 F5, its a great bike, but sorry i dont have any pictures of it yet, never had a chance to get a decent picture of it, seems the weather hasnt been to nice in scotland!

Cool post Dup, Type R looks very nice indeed!

Mine's a bit repetitive for the first few but I shall point out the main differences at least...

Started with this, a '78 Triumph Dolomite 1850HL auto. Lovely car, fantastic to drive and absolutely bulletproof. Learnt to drive in this and a Daewoo Lanos, couldn't have got more different really!

79039437.jpg

However, it really didn't have the performance I wanted, so during a uni term I picked up this:

a289d8e7.jpg

A 1980 Dolomite Sprint, which Sone on these boards still owns (I think). Sold it not long after purchase due to parking problems - great fun though.

So, fancying something slightly different, then bought up this:

07eee5c6.jpg

A 1971 Triumph 1500 - an unfinished project of a local nutter. It was originally FWD, yet had the whole powertrain from a Dolomite Sprint fitted, so was running the 2 litre 16 valve engine, overdrive box, the works.

It made a great noise an went like stink, thanks to a fast road cam and Janspeed exhaust but unfortunately was mired with so many issues, that by the time I'd finished building it, reworking it and getting it taxed and MOTed (which were both major excersizes in their own right), I fell out of love with it.

Which is when this came to the rescue :

53fe062b.jpg

Given to me by a 25 year old Elvis impersonator (who was very convincing!), this 1500SE provided the ultimate summer hack for me - it was tough, economical, made a good noise and thoroughly enjoyable to hack about in.

With it's MOT looming though, at the end of the year, I decided to press on and get something I really wanted.

......which is where YYD came in:

56369c9c.jpg

Originally a 1974 Sprint, it'd had it's 4 pot ripped out and replaced with 3.5 litres of Buick's finest V8, replete with fuel injection, a 5 speed gearbox and uprated suspension amongst other. A rip-roaring little thing, turning in 60 in well under 6 seconds and still returning about 30 to the gallon, I kept it for a long time doing various odd jobs and maintainence - as again, it was another unfinished project.

Despite the fact it had no carpets, little interior refinement and was noisy as hell, I used it as my daily driver for a good 6 months and enjoyed every minute of it!

Eventually it got to the point where I didn't have the time, space or mobility to carry out the further jobs required on it (like various bits of bodywork, suspension rebushing, etc) so I decided to sell it.

I did a lot with it though and thoroughly enjoyed it's company - it's about the only car barring one of my later ones that I genuinely miss.

I'd always wanted a Stag, so I went and bought one of those:

d95fd87b.jpg

Again, with the Rover 3.5. A great looking car and a riot to cruise about in, however it just didn't hit the spot for me - despite the ladies liking it so much :p - so off it went...

I'd always fancied a 4x4 as well, so for a laugh I bought a '95 Jeep Cherokee

caef21f4.jpg

Which I smoked around in, mucked about with and promptly got bored of within 2 weeks and sold on.

Then I went insane and bought a 1986 Corvette C4:

75af09b6.jpg

Which was bloody hillarious and had a devestating amount of road presence. It had a few gripes though and not wanting to get involved with something so expensive on such a level, I sold it after doing a good few thousand miles in it, taking it on track (gingerly) and having it dyno'd. Again, great to drive - but an average of about 12-15 to the gallon in daily use was crippling, as it was costing 60 quid a week.

Logically, something small and economical would follow as an inverse reaction to that.

69b57183.jpg

That, of course, being another Corvette - but a later '95 one, almost the last of the C4s. 300BHP, all the toys imaginable and levels of sophistication and build quality above the previous one, this is my current daily now :) Fortunately, this one's much more economical as well, returning about 20mpg (US) in daily use and up to 30 on a run!

Still, doesn't sound as good as the previous one :(

Just get on with it :p

If you ever want me to hook you up - just let me know ;) :D

Any progress with the Dolly? Maybe it's time you put an advert up on the TDC if not - least it'd clear that space for you and let you get on with other things :)

still got it :(

Its back in the garage being winter and still starts on the first turn of the key (had to replace a few fuel pipes in the summer, made a world of differance). Everytime i think its time to get rid i sit back behind the wheel and remeber why i wanted it in the first place :D

Fantastic post Fox, made me chuckle!

You all know my car history...

Bought a Rover.

Crashed it.

Bought another Rover.

Sold it.

Bought another Rover.

Sold it.

Bought another Rover.

Is there something wrong with me? :(

Will update with pictures when I get home from work.

Not many to show for my 8 years behind the wheel but here goes-

My grandad gave me my first car. The docs had told him that he couldn't drive anymore and being as he was mainly in a care home by this time it made it hard for him to get christmas and birthday presents etc. So for my 17th and Christmas he gave me his car. A Hyundai Pony 1.5 GLS :D

lordrobs-ThePony.jpg

Whilst maybe not the most desirable of cars it was mine and it gave me a whole new world of freedom. In the 4 1/2 years I owned it I drove it like I stole it daily, spun it twice, backed into a mates house with it, got (a tiny bit of) air in it and many many other cool and or wreckless things.

It broke down a fair bit but most of that was due to a single problem (corrosion in the carb) still I got my moneys worth from my AA cover :p

Really enjoyed that car, only reason I got rid of it was that it was basically rotting away so in June 04 it was scrapped and made way for...

My Pug 306 1.4

CIMG0076.jpg

When I got it it had 13" steelies and I fitted the XSi wheels mysef which really freshened it up. I really wanted Cyclones but these were a good price and came with decent rubber so couldn't say no.

Gutless but fantastic fun to drive. Probably as fun in the twisties as my current car. Looked nice too in my biased opinion. Properly waxed up the Paint looked fantastic.

I bought it on 63k and it was approaching 118k by the time I sold it and other than consumables in that time it needed a rear brake cylinder, thats it. Fantastically cheap to run and makes me wonder where all the "French = ****" comments come from.

By the time I got shot of it it was still running great and the only reason I did was a promise I made to myself when I first started driving that when I hit 25 I would have something with a bit of go.

Sooo.... I bought this back in August

DSCN1504.jpg

Skoda Octavia vRS

Got to be honest not my first choice but it fitted my criteria and budget and it certainly fills my "bit of go" that I was after.

My one is completely standard and its an amazingly capable car for what effectively is a family sized hatch. Handling great, brakes great, grips like a begger. Sometimes it seems almost too capable when pushing on.

My only disappointment is that I ended up with a silver one. It never looks any better than good, you can't get it looking great. Still this time of year its a bit of a blessing :p

You got your slippers and pipe yet :p

AGW when he's 50 something =

1196768332.jpg

MIND THE CYCLIST RICHARD!

Anyway, some great and sensible choices in here, bar maybe my own. Most have had a French car too, so I don't feel half as bad about the 206.

Also, Lashout, my other half watches Top Gear with me and really wants a Dolly Sprint after they had one on. She does about 10 miles a day but we have no dry storage for one. Sensible or not? Will probably be more reliable than the frogmobile.

I have been driving now for just under 3 years in the time i have owned three cars

After passing my test on thr 12 February 2005 i was given by my brother 1989 Renualt 5 TL

1.jpg

This car was small but handled like a boat took a corner or a roundabout too quickly you smash ** head on the door window. and its was painfully slow. going up hill on the M62 max speed is 50 mph :D. But still i loved it until it died from HGF.

After that i got a 1996 Toyota Paseo 1.5 Si i got it for £1,000 and covered 35,000 trouble free miles in over my three year ownership.

wholeright.jpg

I've enjoyed the cheap running costs the fact it will just go and go and go. But alas it was time to leave the paseo behind and decide to get something worth having something faster and bit stupid.

Having started a placement with university with a more than generous salary for a placement year i started look at various cars LCRs CTRs test drove a far few. But i eventually settled on a 2000 Nissan 200SX Touring. Which is fanstatic i cant wait for summer.
