Not bad for 5 years motoring

On the lookout for a second car now (await new post)

I have a shocking selection of cars really. 18 Years of ownership consists of

1981 Ford Escort 1.3 (with sexy vinyl roof!). This thing was dire and I have no rose tinted memories of it. It topped out at a wacking 65mph and drank oil (before spitting it out in clouds of smoke). Died after I used the crossmember as towing point and it fell apart in a cloud of dust :D

1989 Ford Fiesta 1.4s. Thought this was rocketship after my previous car. Plenty of people were only to pleased to point out it wasn't.

1991 106 XN 1.1. Poverty spec with a 4 speed box, I was skint and it was cheap

1994 306 XR 1.4. The chassis promised so much but the engine failed to deliver on every single occasion. Abused it daily till it died at the car park barrier in work much to the chagrin of those on the early shift queued behind me.

2001 Megane 1.4. My dads old car which he passed on to me for no cost so I try not to judge it to unfairly. Run of the mill small family car with a penchant for eating coil packs.

2006 Fabia vRS. My current car until the new year. Points on this already made in other threads.

1989 Fiesta 1.1 LX
1994 Citroen ZX 1.9TD Aura
1994 Honda Prelude 2.2
1995 Toyota Celica GT4

I owned that for 2 years and in 2005 i bought this:

Ford Escort RS Turbo 1.6 - 250 BHP / 282 LBFT @ 28PSI

Nice RS mate! What you do to the engine to hold nearly 2 bar boost??

Sold mine wknd before last and missing it a bit now. Nevermind onwards and upwards.

My car history is very brief and very Ford.

1) H292 CBC - 1.3 popular Mk4 Escort as a first car. Kept for 3 months. Bought I think for £650 in the dark and ice as I was in a hurry on a Friday night to go drinking. Sold for £630.

2) H487 MON - 2.0 GLX Sierra rwd love wagon. Was given to me by grandparents. Kept from 17 and 59k until it was very tired last year on 116k. Learned to go sideways and generally misbehave in a rwd car, and until they got stolen it had 2 subs and a 2000 watt amp in my late teens. Proper Bo.

3) BL52WKT - Mondeo TDCI. Current car (although not on that plate.) Bought from my dad for next to nowt. Very boring but very economical, comfy, easy to drive [insert mondeo plus point here.] Tempted to change this for a Fabia VRS with a remap in the new year as I really don't need a big car.

4) E35 BHK - Series 2 Escort RS Turbo. Bought the best I could afford at the time as a weekend/fun car. Spent silly money on it over the last year, and sold it last weekend for less than I had spent on it, let alone the initial purchase cost. The rumour that RS's are money pits is completely untrue.

Only have pics of the RS (but lots of them! ;)). From the recent Central RS Owners trackday:

Track day is featurd in Fast Ford this month onsale Thurs 6th. Just hoping my chav mobile made it in there!! :o

In 2004 I bought a 306 1.6 90bhp :( Much nicer than the Clio's and Fiesta's I test drove and nothing went wrong over a year of owning it.

Then in 2005 I got a Mondeo 2.0TDCI. Probably the nicest inside of any car I've owned. Fast enough for what it was but wasn't really that involving to drive.

2006 I got a Celica 1.8 (140bhp). Didn't feel much faster than the Mondeo but was much more fun on country roads. Did a couple of track days but after a year I wanted something faster and would have cost too much to supercharge/turbo.

robbery-celica.jpg

Then in 2007 I got a Leon Cupra R 210bhp and after a couple of weeks got it remapped to 260bhp'ish. Much more comfortable than the Celica on long trips.

First car was a 1.4 Escort, ergg what did I do to it....embarased tbh but I was young and seemed to be the "in" thing back then....

1.jpg

Then fancied a quicker car and fell in love with the shape of these things (Rover Coupe/Tomcat)...again modded but this time tried to do it nicely.

2.jpg

Owned the Rover for over a year then moved onto RWD with the MR2 ~ MK2 Rev1.

3.jpg

Only had it for about 4 months as was disapointed on the performance, didnt seem much faster than the Rover Coupe and the snap oversteer scared me a few times.

So moved back to FWD but wanted to hit over the 200bhp mark, so on to the Prelude 2.2 VTEC.

Great car, one of my favourites and had it for over a year before selling up to pay some debts and in the mean time got hold of this shed for a couple of months...worst car by FAR (even worse than the Escort as that never broke down and this did on many occastions)

I present, the famous K series HGF Rover 416

5.jpg

Once I was financially stable again I felt like having another crack at RWD and had always wanted a turbo charged car to push me nicely over the 200bhp mark so decided to give the MR2 another try but this time one revision higher as the suspension had apparently been "sorted"...

And yes, huge improvement over the rev1. Still gives me a scare if I push her too hard but the control is much easier to handle and the power makes me grin. This is my current car and have owned it for just over a year now. I have modded a few bits and peices :D

I am now 22 having been driving since i was 17, so nearly 5 years. In that time ive had quite a few cars, so wont mention them all, cars of note are:

At aged 17 i wanted something nippy and comfy, this was the fastest nicest car i could afford at the time, was quite nice with its 2.5 V6 engine and heated seats and stuff:

At age 18/19 this was replaced with 2 cars, my company gave me a leon TDI which i drove from 0 to 105k miles: http://www.jezzza.plus.com/dirtyleon.jpg

Along with an MR2 GTS Turbo, bit of a bitch to insure at 19, but managed it with admiral in the end: http://www.jeremytucker.eclipse.co.uk/MR2GTST.jpg

Aged 21 i bought a couple of BMW's, a BMW 330i Sport, and a BMW 330ci sport, both lovely cars but while i still had the leon they wernt really justifiable and were therefore sold after not much time:

Aged 22 i decided that driving little 1.9TDI's wasnt much fun, i am doing 40k+ miles per year, so i decided to do the sensible thing and jack in the company car and replace it with a comfy cruiser, enter the Mercedes S430 with AMG tat for added bling. Bloody lovely car and by far my favourite of all my cars by miles, it just laps up the mileage and is a joy to be behind the wheel of, nice 4.3litre V8 engine too:

Thats it for the moment, all downhill from here i guess...

*EDIT* I wrote a large post with all my cars here but only about one third of it actually showed up so ignore.

Nice to see a few rovers in here. Since 98 i started off with a British racing green austin metro. I got it looking like a metro turbo with the arches, spoiler etc, but boy was it slooow. I then I had my 220gti when i turned 20. It got nicked twice and broken into 3 times. It stood out too much being white so i let it go. I then had the mazda rx. Had it nearly 4 years now and loving it. Very fast, very sexy, tuned to 330bhp. Went to the ring and isle of mann this year, will be going again next year.

After stupidly selling my beloved turbo

 I used to have both an S1 & an S2 RST, my S2 would do that  - Used to get pulled for it often! :o

- Cars... Pics... Blah...

Bloody Hell Jez,

A, I had'nt realised your 22! (Yes, I know , how long have I been around here? :o )

B: Crimes! I hadn't also realised quite how many Motors you've had!

C: Glad to see Fox isn't the only person not scared of big engines & things at your age!

At 22, I think iirc, I had a Fiesta 1.1 Pop Plus (Either that, or my 1984 XR3i, can't remember!)

Escort 1.6 GL

Just picked Jez Lopez's & Damien's posts, not to say the others are not worthy of comment - some great pics here lads!
