thermaltake big typhoon

Having had both i would say the Thermalright is the king. The SI is the better of the 2 as it is almost likely to fit your mobo, but the XP-120 has compatability issues with some mobos. If you go to the Thermalright website it will tell you if your mobo is compatable.

I found the SI-120 with the Nexus 120mm fan to be superb! Very quiet indeed and keeps the CPU nice and cool. The Akasa 120mm fan is good too but a little louder. The CFM is quite low on these fans but it does the job no problem at all.

Some people have had trouble fitting the scythe ninja as it is very tall.

lol all the answers are pretty pointless...

"silence" is a personal preference thing... one fan may be silent to one person whilst being a PITA to another...

If you want a good silence/performance ratio (that suits YOU)

then you need a THICK, HIGH QUALITY fan on something like a fanmate or fan controller...

so basically a DELTA 120mm 220cfm is your best choice...

OR if you can find it that is... a Delta GFB1212VHW..

PS: The akasa ambers are like 30dba and are far noiser than the stock fan, I owned both. Cant speak about the rest though..

I still haven't found anywhere in the UK that stocks that Monster Delta (Yep, I fully intend on buying it, and yes, I know just how lous it's going to be. I run 2x120mm FF Delta's, 2 80mm FF delta's and a 172x150mm Papst, about 660CFM)

I've just got a Panaflo M1A fan this morning, and from what i've used so far this thing is very very quiet for the amount of air that it pushes. It's double width so it pushes more air with less speed i guess, but it's an excellent fan :)

ul lol

cheers for everything like i will go for 2 'Akasa AK-170BL4B Crystal 4x Blue LED Speed Control Fan' 1 Turbine 2000 and thermalright SI-120
ul? Why am i unlucky? Those are absolutely great specs, the amount of air it pushes for dbA is fantastic. I've got a quiet PC, and i've got the fan reduced with my fan controller and i really cannot hear it, yet it's still pushing a lot of air, more than my old silverstone fan.
