Thieves?

I just rang the police, they said they would "probably" send someone round to each house to check for damaged/missing property or forced entry (which I know didn't happen anyway but meh).

Do one. If I was a BAD neighbour I wouldn't give a ****.

If I had seen them with a hammer or the likes ready to break in then sure, I would have called immediately.

Edit: Also I'm sure it would be a case of "No damage done, no crime here" by the police anyway.

what would you have done if they walked down your garden path? and shone a torch into your house or car?

posting on a forum after the event is pointless.....you should have phoned the police while they were scoping your neighbours houses and cars!

I only posted to see if you lot thought it was worth ringing the police over, as personally I didn't as there was no crime, which in my eyes means it would have been a pointless exercise. I've seen it on police programs/read it on sites where these people can get off just by saying their looking for their cat or something, and the police can't prove otherwise.

Edit: As I posted above, I've reported it now anyway, so hopefully if they do send round a car, that should be deterrent enough to stop them trying anything in the future.

Call the fuzz and let them know the story, problem with the police is that they take forever to arrive at the scene of problems like this. I called the police a few months back when a gang of youths were drinking and shouting around our private car park and checked out cars in there, took them over an hour to get here and by that time they had all but gone, got a call from the police saying it was nothing and it was only 2 people who had been there all the time just having an argument, bah the scum will always win!

Don't take this the wrong way but it isn't for you to determine if a crime is taking place and even so you would be reporting suspicious activity of which people looking into properties and cars at 3am is rather and it shouldn't stop you from phoning the police at the time.

It wouldn't be a pointless exercise as the cops may have got them stopped, checked them out and searched them and the car. They might have found items to substantiate an arrest for going equipped, they may have had stolen items in the car, one or more of them may have been wanted by the police and the car may not have had insurance which would mean it could be seized.

For sure! One of the things that stopped me ringing last night was the fact I know how slow they are attending anything like this. A man was once running up and down my road naked shouting "help me, help me, please god help me". Most people came out their houses, next door rang the police, and it took them about 20 minutes to turn up. Whatever had happened, was over by the time they got there. Sure, the police were checking in everyone's back gardens (eventually) to see where he had gone, but if it really was a life threatening situation, then they were 20 minutes too late.

Don't forget that eastern european languages are a bit similar (some worlds are the same) and you can be mistaken that they were polish, however they could but still this doesn't mean that all poles are bad.

I'm fluent in Polish so please do not swear.;)

English pig !111

:D

Should have called them anyway, but consider just calling the non-emergency number and letting them know people were scoping around. Poles are quite distinct and I find it extremely easy to tell them from other baltic countries. Their head shapes are a dead giveaway :p
