This!

Only popped in there from time to time and everytime I see it's a post saying "I'm cold", "I'm sleepy", "I'm going to shoot myself in the head".

Can't they go onto mumsnet to post that bile? :p

I was reading mumsnet yesterday out of curiosity and was actually surprised at the replies to one thread about a school governor getting handed her arse for wanting to dob in a 22yr old teacher for being 22 and having a life and liking Ricky Gervais.

Maybe they are learning :p

When they first appeared I thought it was a really good idea - people would post pictures of interesting things they'd bought. Perhaps an odd musical instrument or an obscure CD or something - something that was a talking point.

Then it descended into the same people posting pretty much everything they ever bought. Wow an SD card. Exciting. Oh you went to Starbucks and bought some coffee? Great. Thanks for sharing. Wow is that a pair of Levi jeans? etc etc.

Or an ill fitting suit... :p

People should be banned for posting stuff deemed boring by the masses, it'll make the thread more exciting.

Oh, and merge them all together into one super thread but make sure to labels it 'Official Ultimate Thread of Things Brought' (with appropriate starage) just to annoy people.

I only have 3 straps you gimp.

I mean Mr Gimp.

If anything TIAM needs banning. What exactly is the point of it? At least buying stuff thread serves a purpose in that people do see things that look interesting and end up buying themselves.

TIAM has a very simple purpose.

It takes all the rubbish that people post (myself included), and condenses it into a single thread, which generally stops it spilling into other threads.

Well it's not really working then :p

Just ban Jaffa from creating them with some bs photo he probably didn't win the lottery with and all is happy! Oh and shoot people who use stock images or invoices!

A better discussion would be about why there are so many “official” threads with stars in the titles. Why do they need stars? Why do they need to be labelled as official? I don’t see the OcUK forums having sections for competitors or other partners so it’s a bit of a wasted effort surely

Somewhere between merging them all and banning them.

I think merging is only fair as some people clearly, for some reason, like them.

Stop trying to screw with the fabric of space and time, man.

One megathread is a good idea. I like seeing what people have bought, I've even bought a couple of things based on recommendations in the threads :)

I do agree that the pointless bickering at the start of the month needs to go though, hence why I'm voting for the megathread option. I don't understand how people can dislike the thread unless it makes them jealous

Edit: the wording of the option to keep them as they are reads like a jealous 12 year old wrote it. A bit petty to say the least

Make a single thread called "Interesting things I recently bought"

Then ban anyone who posts mundane every day boring crap that they have bought, just keeping interesting stuff for people to discuss.

"I'm a ****** and here's what I wasted my money on last month... You filthy filthy paupers". Ban the ***** Gilly, your gut instinct was, as usual, quite right.
