Things I don't like (TIDL) thread

I really dont like welsh "rugby fans", having been testing my nerves all day.

Nearly smacked the one that called me a English c word any missus a whore for being with a English c word.

I hate living in wales so frickin much.
Wow, I've never met a Welshman I didn't like. But I'm not in the Rugby crowd so maybe I've avoided the dickheads?

Majority of welsh people are great, friendly bunch.

But there is a undercurrent of ******* that come out during the rugby and seem to think owain glyndwr is calling to them, they hear a English accent and pretend they're hard.

Unfortunately with news papers like wales online, some are seeing abusing English people as a the done thing. despite the fact i probably have more real welsh/celtic in me than they have in their whole social circle.

Just seen you're in Carmarthenshire, if you know where Lampeter is that's the ******** I dwell in.

The Australian patent system. I was asked to analyse it for limitations and have concluded it is seriously wanting - mired in 1980's mode (half-science) interpretive constraint nonsense.

e: In this situation it isn't even worth my time to make recommendations - the errors are matters of fact and any remedy requires providing an adequate scientific education upgrade.

People, supposedly close friends, who think it's fine to laugh when you explain the odd behaviour of your mother who is suffering from serious mental health issues.

They even looked shocked when I told them to leave. Utterly clueless, stunned *****.

Well I doubt they're deliberately setting out to upset you, else they'd not be your close friends. Probably more of a misunderstanding - plenty of people deal with situations like that in different ways and can find humour in adversity etc.. given that they were shocked when you told them to leave perhaps it was a bit of an overreaction and you could have just asked them not too or explained how the situation was making you feel and now isn't the time for banter etc... etc...

I doubt they'd laugh at any other serious illness. They're just immature enough to think laughing at the crazy is ok, in front of me, when it's my mother going through it.

Odd, ok cool... but was it funny?

No.

What made them laugh?

Trying to understand if they're just dickheads or it was actually something else.

I'd rather not go into details here but they know what we've been through with her for the past 6 months or so, so they should have known better.

I've seen people do entire comedy routines about their physical illness, it depends on context and their intent really... maybe they were being ****s or maybe they just didn't realise you'd have a completely different take on it.

This wasn't their illness.

Knock on each ones door and tell them the 5 finger joke. It'll make you feel better and you can all move forward.

I won't be having jolly japes with them for a while. As watched them laugh I could literally feel my head spinning. :(

My brain attempting to calculate how many emails I have waiting for me after 5 days off.

It’s Sunday night, STFU brain.

No jolly japes...

Just so they know how much they upset you and also so you can get past it easier.

Ah, now I'm with you. :)

No, there'll be no handbags either. There's no need. They know me well enough to know how angry I was.

They have since been in touch and apologised. I'm not sure they get it though, not even 1% of it, but I put that down to ignorance. It isn't their fault.

People react in different ways under stress.
You obviously have a ton to deal with right now.
Yeah some people laugh at utterly inappropriate things. Guy was probably nervous inside having you talk very serious at him.

A very good mate of mine got legless at my dad's funeral, spouting junk like I love funerals can start drinking from 9am and it's all great. Obviously **** that drove me very close to my limits too. Can't say we ever saw eye to eye the same after that day. He ended up killing himself, so yeah he had his own plate full of issues too.
