Things I don't like (TIDL) thread

@ttaskmaster who must have edited 20 posts to day “nvm” and now I want to know what it said and why

He threw his toys out of the pram after making some dubious claims in the obesity thread - for example:

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/posts/33051542/

Fair few of those got edited by him to "NVM" ditto to the trans athlete thread in speakers corner - you can see some of what he posted, albeit trimmed down, in some of the replies with quotes - though the full posts were generally him splitting a post down into multiple parts and having a big rant so not all of it will be visible now.

Football style chants, specifically those not done at a match.

It's becoming more and more prevalent in clubs, bunch of beer boys hollering "here we, here we, here we ****ing go!" or similar during a breakdown. Just STFU I came here to hear the music, not your ********.

Geez, I know your paying to avoid queues but your still missing the point.

The security checks are a requirement for everyone and required by law/regulations and so are not something you should be able to pay for in order to skip the queues. Perhaps you also think those with money should also be able to pay their way out of prison sentences, have their own 100mph lane on motorways and use bus lanes?
Not really. It's more like having a congested road, and letting people pay extra to use a fast lane with no queuing. Which is exactly what some toll roads have - a painfully slow free option and a faster option you pay for.

You're literally describing how society currently runs...

It's like false equivalence bingo!

A prison sentence and a speed limit are laws that need to be followed.
Queueing for a security check is not, the check itself is.

Do you hold equal hatred for fast-track tickets at Theme Parks? :p

These days it's a waste of time going to a theme park without a fast-track pass. Unless you go on a really quiet day.

In fact, I do :p

I don't see why paying the already fairly high fee for a theme park (typically £35-70) with at times queues 60-90mins long, why 'VIPS' (not really VIPS, just people with more money) should be able to waltz past those that queued in effect pushing those that queued further back. An example, my son went to Alton Towers on a school organised trip at the end of the year. He managed 2 rides queuing close to 2 hours for each with the regular pass. I would imagine perhaps between 25-30% of visitors pay the extra for the VIP pass which means that they in effect shuffled him and his friends back.

Same goes for fast track security, if they put people on fast track and have specific security points for that, everyone else queues longer.

Perhaps it because I'm British and I believe in fairness and first come first served ;)

That thar's some commie-talk I tells ya!

I agree, but that doesn't make it right, something in the private sector (flight ticket, privately funded toll road etc) then its not so questionable but there is only ONE option for security checks at airports not a PUBLIC one and a PRIVATELY run one and thats why its top 3 in my TIDL list

Sometimes the fast track lane is a godsend, I’ve used it a few times when I’ve been running late at Gatwick and it only cost £5 and probably only saved 10 mins but it all counts. At £5 it’s not the super elitist shortcut you are making it out to be. As above it’s the equivalent of choosing a toll road over a public road for convenience.

I hate queues as much as the next man and won’t go to a theme park during peak season for this reason (VIP passes are usually massively overpriced on top of an already expensive ticket).

As I travel a lot I get fast track for free. I get the complaint above, but would add that the majority of very regular travelers are very efficient through security. Also they travel so often that the time spent going through security effects them to a greater proportion.

Anyhow I don't like the people that get to the front of security and seem surprised with they requirements!
