Things that once seemed normal but aren't allowed now

I remember the first ones I ever had and sat for ages with the first one trying to peel the paper off, then being mocked by parents when they discovered me doing so
to me it was just logical

hehe I had a fake ciggarette once (you had to blow into it to make smoke come out) and people stared at me in disgust hahaha and an old couple said to me "do your parents know you smoke!?" and I said "it's a fake cigarette see" they laughed and walked on. Wonder if they are banned now.

I remember those, people I knew who had them sucked on them instead and wondered why they started coughing so badly >.<

Straight people (girls esp).

yup, seems like every girl is "bi" or at least "bi-curious" and think that kissing their female friends on a drunken night out qualifies them as being bi lol

Fox Hunting, used to be a traditional country pursuit with root hundreds of years old, is now stopped thanks to idiots from big cities with no experience of country life.

I remember when I was a little'n whe I used to be able to go outside in my spare time, Kids now are either too lazy or scared to go out anymore

Not round here they're not, we live in a cul-de-sac and there's always some of the local children out playing imaginitively (normally harry potter or star wars), it's really fantastic that we live in such a safe area - when my son's old enough I hope he'll play outside too (at 2 1/2 he already tries to join in with the older kids who, bless them, always take time out to play with him). :)

Another thread on here got me thinking about the time I flew to Tenerife in the early 90's. Being my first flight I asked the cabin crew mid-flight if I could see the cockpit and was allowed to. Looking back this would never be allowed now.

So what other things used to be quite normal and are now not allowed?

Yep i used to ask all the time whenever we used to fly over from Canada...it was great...i still remember sitting in the cockpit back in '84 when we flying back from London to Toronto...it was pretty awesome...even got an Air Canada badge too:p.

But thanks to 9/11 and a few other incidents its no longer allowed:(.

My kids not being able to sing baa baa black sheep at school, they have to say baa baa red sheep

Oh and they dont have spotted dick anymore, its been renamed spotted richard on the menu

And why the hell dont we dads get fathers day cards yet the mums get one every year :(

smoking at the bar

Good times, but wouldn't like it to come back though, but with pubs could buy licences for it to be allowed!

The thing I remember as a kid was being able to go out with my mates aged less than 10, all on our bikes, messing about, causing havoc and general being kids... Sure, that happens these days, just with one huge difference, we didn't have children in prams with knifes and condoms in our back pockets...

Shame really, the next generation and probably the next after that are doomed.

Smoking (or lack thereof) still feels odd to me at times. I remember as a kid having the smell of smoke everywhere, from restaurants (including fast food chains) to shopping in Debenhams and even in places like Sainsbury's, it was not unusual to see someone lighting up!
