Hi guys! We are looking to spend a few nights in buxton, any recommendations of B&B`s? Things to see and do? We will go to thorn bridge brewery one of those days.

Their theatre is quite good.

Also, Bakewall pudding in the tearooms, essential.

We hired a cottage on a farm, which was awful, cold and no hot water.
The second time time we had a house with a Aga, couldn't work out how that worked.

Aww I love agas they are awesome, though they should have left you instructions as the do take getting used too. We will definitely be having bakewell tart. We`re probably wanting more a b&b than a cottage on a farm.

There is 'Go Ape' in buxton.

A lot of nice caves, speedwell (you go into the cave via a boat) , blue john etc, near by at Castleton which is also a lovely place to visit. Only place in the UK that has Blue John ( A stone)

Matlock and Matlock Bath. Brill on a nice Sunday, Motorbikers from all over go there. It is like a sea side front without the sea. Loads of chip shops, penny arcades etc.

Bakewell. Lovely Town, especially suited for tourists.

Dovedale and Ashbourne very nice.

Tissington Trail if you are into biking.

Lady Bower reservoir. Where the Dambusters was filmed and they practiced the Bouncing Bomb routine in WWII

Pools Cavern as well in Buxton.

Mam Tor, a big mountain to climb.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

The Opera House is nice, you may get chance to see a good show and the Olde Clubhouse next door does nice ales and food.

Can't recommend any B&B's as I live just down the road :D.

As for what to do? It depends what you fancy really.

I'd highly recommend going to see the caverns at Castleton which isn't too far away but it is a bit of a tourist trap at the weekends so be prepared to queue. Speedwell Cavern is the best but not for the feint hearted as some of the cavern is explored via a boat. There is also Pooles Cavern in Buxton if you don't want to travel the 20 mins to get to Castleton. If you like a scare watch 'decent' the night before :D.

There's a small Victorian shopping centre in the centre of Buxton if you are a bit 'arty' with a more modern mini-precinct on the main street. A nice park with a mini train ride which kids seem to love in the spring summer months in the centre too. As you would expect being in the Peak District there are plenty of walks., some easy, some moderate and some more challenging. Mam Tor is a short incline which can be done in a morning. If you want a little bit more of a challenge then Kinder Scout in Edale is great, especially if you go the waterfall route and has some fantastic views at the top but can be very cold this time of year. If you make this trip, you can take a route which will drop you down into Hayfield where 'The Village' was filmed recently.

A couple of things to add to Magic's list, depending on when you are visiting.

Chatsworth House / Haddon Hall (Don't open to the public until later in the year)

Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site - More of a thing to do if you are into industrial History.

Market day in Bakewell is on a Monday, so a bit more to see if you go then. Although it can get busy as well.

Edit: Another vote for the Castleton Blue John mines.

Heights Of Abraham is a interesting visit with cable cars and other stuff, just out of Matlock Bath. There are a few other museums in Matlock Bath along with the stuff already mentioned. If you're into live music The Fishpond often have bands playing at the weekend.

Manifold Valley and Thor's Cave (nice walk and great views), there are some nice country pubs near here also.

I'll also say that the mines are worth a visit :)
