Things we got for Christmas

I am not obliged to exchange presents in my family (I don't expect any and no one else expect them either), it means every year I treat myself to a little something. So throughout December I have been looking on eBay/online/local HiFi dealer for bargains.

This year, actually been over a year, my stereo amp has been dying so I replaced it, along the way I went for surround sound.

Starting with the replacement that replaced the stereo amp.

The Musical Fidelity X-A2

The surround sound - Pioneer VSX-2021

Speakers for the surround, I got 4 of these B&W M-1 plus stands

plus a BK XLS400 sub that is on its way.

Bonus present from NYC from my sister :D (I got a Starbucks mug too!)

Nice stuff :) love lucky charms :)

How do you find the b&w stuff?

I came home at Xmas to discover a beosound 8 in the house. It blew me away for sheer quality.... Never heard an iPod dock as good...

The speakers are good, I went for them because I already have B&W speakers so I needed the same "sound" for the rest. These are now discontinued so got them half price (£70 each opposed to £140).

I am waiting for the best bit, the sub to complete the set.

I also bought a centre on eBay but it hasn't turned up so I will have to look again.

I wish I got presents this early. Though to be honest, I'm lucking forward to lunch more than anything :D

Lunch is always the best part!

We had family friends over so had Xmas dinner this evening. Tomorrow I'm going to my grandparents for Xmas lunch. Then boxing day I'm going to the gfs for possibly another Xmas lunch, no idea if I will get one though :) got 3 Christmas lunches last year as well. It was awesome.

Yeah was wondering whether they provide as much good sound for price. Nice that you got them half price though! To be honest I'm not surprised they're good. So try turning up the christmas jingles on them :)

Braun 790cc, 390cc, 380 razors, Oral-B 5000, 1000 & 500 toothbrushes, Braun 7681 epilator from work which was nice of them. :) But.... I'm passing them all off to family and my gf apart from the 790cc which I'll keep for myself. :D

Have to see what Santa has got me later on in the morning!

This is odd... Where do you work. And thought you'd want the 7681 for yourself ;)

I am not sure about B&W "home" stuff.

My other B&W speakers are their older 602, which are large stand mounts speakers, £300 a pair. Which are cheap compare to these M-1.

602 £300 per pair + £60 stands (pair)
M-1 (£140 each) + £200 stands (pair) these are specifically designed for these.

So the M-1 pair £480 per pair speakers after stands!

No 'cos it bloody hurts!

Would be a bit odd if I got Philips stuff and not P&G stuff tbh. :D

How do you know it hurts xD

wow expensive!

For home stuff, to be honest once you have a good AV surround set up you can plug basically anything into it anyway so wouldn't need home stuff anyway :)

Well, it was expensive mainly because of the stands. I managed to get 1 pair on eBay for £100, but another was new at £200. I could easily bought some small bookshelf (their 686 speakers at £300 a pair plus some £100 stands which will sound better than the M-1), but I simply do not have the room behind the sofa so I had to sacrifice a little sound quality for size. That said, these M-1 won loads of awards in the home theatre front :)

Sounds like you're pretty set. I am certainly quite envious!
