Things you forget when building

i forget to fit the front panel connectors at the start of the build (as there much easier to fit without all the rest of the cables in the way) :)

never forgot to fit the backplate but i wonder why the stock plate (with the case) NEVER FITS any mobo i want to use :p
Backplate i/o shields are a curse, on an evga 680i sli board i had, the i/o shield was that bad a fit i had to file it to fit in the akasa eclipse case i had at the time.

Only mistake Ive made was to forget about the backplate on my cpu cooler... Once I'd moved everything across to my new mobo, fitted it to the case etc, only then did I realise my mistake. Not costly, just damn stupid and time consuming!

I'm actually quite meticulous with builds, savouring every moment, admiring components etc. So no, I tend to not forget anything.

i was using the light on my mobile phones camera mode to aid me when plugging in all of the front panel connectors etc and i forgot to take it out again lol.

i found it about half an hour after searching all the boxes

I'm usually good with details when building, but one thing I have forgot once or twice is whilst clearing the CMOS - crapping myself when the PC won't start - because I haven't placed the jumper back in the normal position! Not good, as you can damage the board doing that according to some manuals!

I've also forgot to switch off my PSU when messing around inside with a problematic PC. Also not good!

had a comp with a prescot p4 in, which i did some fiddling with of some description. there was music playing in the house at the time, and when i turned it on everything was fine and dandy for a few mins, then it started going really sluggish. i was wondering what was up, then the music stopped. It was then i twigged that the pc was very quiet.

i forgot to plug the the heatsink fan in. facepalm.

turned it off, and the heatsink was too hot to touch...

also put the occasional case fan in the wrong way round.

Backplate I only forgot once.

CPU fan connection I forget probably every other build (also tend to forget this when changing my CPU cooler).

I forgot to connect the front USB headers once too. Realised my mistake, but rushed the connection and connected them the wrong way around and blew out that header. I heard a pop and smell of burning, PC shut down and wouldn't boot again. I had a huge panic before I noticed the on-screen message about USB ports. All worked once I'd disconnected the header.

One thing I always, always forget, even if just doing minor tinkering, is the power cable and/or the PSU on switch. I always still get a split second's panic when I press the power button and get no response.

Most recently, power and sata connections for hard drive. Was that busy with cable managment,i ran the cables to the HDD,just forgot to plug them in.(First time i'd built in a case with HDD connections hidden).Hmm disk error on startup lol.

I'll let you know in about a week or so time. Should hopefully be getting my graphics card / replacement back the latter part of next week so will do a complete strip down, clean, fresh install etc May be rotating my cpu cooler to fit in some ram coolers at a later date (space providing) so plenty of scope for me to forget something :D

foget NOt to build after ive just got in from another 12hr night shift:(. 24-36 hr without sleep is not the best time to build!!!!

but l know ill do it again when the bits & pieces arrive in the morning post. just cant help myself... let me at it!!:p
