Think 25

Why is it so much trouble just to get your ID out

some people dont have drivers license and they dont want to carry passport with them...

why people dont carry a DL if they have one is beyond me

Why should you have to carry ID around, we are not yet quite a police state.

easy, to purchase alcohol

infact, i got 20min before tesco closes im going to go and buy some beer and a pack of 20 M lights.. mmmm alcohol + games

Its a combination between people being lazy and feeling like the shop worker is picking on them. Some countries on the continent give police the right to fine if an individual gets randomly asked and fails to provide an ID on the spot. This should probably be applied in the UK too so its not just businesses that get hit(and quite badly actually) with fines.

Well if you are literally an 'MG lover' just point at your beloved veteran in the car park. No one under the age of 40 drives one of those so you're on a winner.

Happy belated 21st birthday for the 7th btw.

I don't get what all the fuss is about. I think they should just ID everybody, its hardly a chore getting a card out of the wallet or purse that you are already holding anyway.

I'll be 25 in September and I can (and frequently do!) pass for 17. My boyfriend has two friends who have looked older than 25 since they were 17. It's not always easy to guess someone's age just by looking at them.

Looking older than you is not good! :p When I was 13, I had full facial hair and uncontrollable chest hair, and now at 25. a lot of people assume I am around 30 (that could be due that i am too lazy to be clean shaven everyday, or that I have had a hard life, which I haven't)

So basically the point of this thread, is that I generally agree, however, the choices are not satisfactory to me, I think Common sense should prevail, but as we know, a lot of people seem to lacking this skill.

Double post :o

It's very simple. Alcohol is a controlled substance (rightfully so). It shouldn't be sold to minors. It can be argued that many of today's so called "anti social" behaviour problems begin with booze.

And you are bitching because companies are trying to be responsible who they sell it to?

You wanna drive a car? It's controlled, you need a licence. Just think of it as the same thing. Hell, you can even use the same I.D. Stop whining.

But the worse offenders of this are Off licenses, not supermarkets. they are the businesses that need to be targeted, not supermarkets. I have been in my local off licence, and bee behind a kid that looked 15 at most, and I said something the proprietor, and he refused service, he didn't like it, but what was he going to do? Off licences are by far more problematic with this issue.

I wasn't saying where the problem may lie (you may be right or wrong, I dunno). Just commenting on the complaining that has been directed at the Think 25 issue.

IMO less under-age people having booze the better.

I really can't understand why stores do this, it serves no purpose, it's not a legal requirement to document alcohol challenges.
There was some booklet that they didnt write that i had to read through today and sign. Cant remember what it was called, but in there it stated that i had to record both people i ID and serve with the serial or w/e of the ID and to record when i refuse to serve someone who has no ID.

I really wish it wasnt the case, seems to be more a requirement than something my shop is pushing, but i donno o:

Of course I agree, but the 'Think 25' campaign is more on the side of ridiculousness IMO, if someone looks 18, then check the ID.

I dunno, maybe I am being Naive. :o
