My computer has been sooooo unstable since i upgraded. I decided to run MemTest and im not even 2% of a gig of memory and have had 49 errors so far!!!! LOL

I have 4 1gb sticks of GeIL PC2-6400C4 800MHz

How do i find out which stick is dodgy?

But i really need my computer at the mo as i have a lot of college work! lol Is there a program to test each stick individually?

Thanks for the advice! 1 of the 4 sticks was dodgy so I have put 2 back in and will RMA the other 2! Hopefully my random crashes should stop!

Thanks again.

Have you checked that its not voltage related? Sometimes upping the memory voltage slightly can stabilise unstable RAM. (That said it sounds like your one stick is duff.)

Yeah i thought it may have been over/under so i set it to 2.1v which is what it says on the sticks. But it still reads at 1.8v on Speedfan. But i havnt crashed yet (touch wood) but if i do i might have a play with the voltages.

Mine says 2.1 on the sticks. Websire OCuk and Geil say 2.3. I rang the shop and they said 2.3.

Mine fails on 2.1 so Im at 2.3v and running @ 974.

So crank that volt up.

Well it was stable up until now! Just crashed but memtest isnt showing any errors! Just when i thought i had figured out my random crashes :(

Oh and i cant even get it to boot at 2.3v now tryin 2.2v

hmm sounds strange. What board do you have. (Abit IP35 needs a increase in the MCH "northbridge" to help with 4 sticks)

Increse the northbridge volts a little. Try 1 stick at a time (or 1 stick in slot 1, then slot 2, then slot 3, and finaly slot 3) If all slots pass on 1 stick that works then its try each stick of RAM.

RAM can take a long time to find the fault.

I have an Asus P5KC and i have just done orthos and no errors in 6 hours 30 mins so im not sure its the RAM or the CPU. Got a feeling its could be Graphics Card related.

Orthos what? Small FFT's? Blend? Orthos Small FFT's is mostly a CPU test. Blend is more RAM intensive, but it's not a pure memory test like memtest is.

If memtest still fails, it still points to RAM.

I did a Blend test. I found the stick that was causing the errors and removed it and just left 2 of 4 sticks in the mobo.

Memtest has no problems now
