Thinking about a PSP

I got a white one from jap before they came out over here and its been great. Only thing about jap ones as stated is warranty, and X is O and O is X, thats only in the xmb, uk games obviously be normal. You will also need a uk power cable for the charger but iirc its a kettle one. Id recommend an older model over the slim aswell simply due to custom firmware as you will be able to remap the keys plus do a whole load of other stuff. ;)

Tekken and Metal Gear Port. Ops are great games!

I'm pretty sure i've seen Lite's with custom fw? Either way, I aint bothered about that. Theres only around 5 games I want, might aswell buy them!

Get one, you wont regret it, fantastic piece of kit, especially hooked to the ps3. I use mine to watch divx streamed from my ps3 while sitting in bed.

why not just put a TV/Monitor next to your bed and have your PS3/PC there?

or do you have the PS3 in the lounge and a study for the PC?

I can't think of anything worse than watching a lot of TV or movies on a PSP screen.

However, I love my PSP, I love being able to access my PS3 from anywhere with wifi and I love playing PS1 games on it. I only have 3 games on UMD and one of those is a collection of old Sega games!

I watch Flight of the conchords in bed, ive seen the series now about 8 times but i cant put it down.

Im thinking about upgrading mine to the psp slim, has anyone used both, is it worth doing?

I did have a original PSP quite a while ago and now have a White PSP slim and tbh I can't really tell that theres a whole lot of difference (this maybe due to the time lapse between getting rid of the original and getting the slim one).

Size wise the slim is slightly slimmer which makes it slightly easier to hold and the weight is noticably reduced. Loading times seem improved (daxter) and the system does feel slightly more responsive (although again the latter could just be me thinking its faster).

Your pretty much bang on TBH.

My GF has a white original 'fat' psp and i've just recently got a slim&lite.

Bit more responsive, better load times, bit smaller and much, much lighter.

Not too sure about battery life - i think it's fairly similar.

apparently in an upcoming firmware, you will be able to put a blue ray film in your ps3, and the ps3 will convert it to psp standard and put it onto your psp for you, also there is skype coming for the psp slim

that is why slim is better since skype cannot run on normal one as its limited to memory or something meaning slim might have more stuff that older model will not ;D

I think that's a game specific thing. The buttons aren't actually swapped over, it's just that the Japanese versions of games use the O button where the US and European versions would use X.

The Japan version has the keys swapped in XMB. As you say, the rest is game specific (from memory), I always imported USA versions of games rather than Japan (its all region free) so don't know for certain.

Yea X and O are still physically located where they should be its just in Japan they use X as back etc and O as 'enter'. So in xmb you find yourself cancelling everything which is quite annoying but in uk/us games the keys are mapped back to normal where X is our 'confirm' button.

Guys, modding talk (and software being freeware doesn't necessarily make it legal) isn't allowed here.

Thanks
