I can't think of anything worse (no offence) than a cruise. Being on a floating food court/ shopping mall seems like a total waste. With barely any time to see the places you stop at, or just the port areas, you just are floating about. Why even travel to other places? Just sit just outside Portsmouth and be done with it.
I just think of old people who can't fathom the logistics of organising a real holiday.

This is what I thought too until I did one (see my link above)
I found it to be the opposite of what you said even though I had your opinion at first.
I saw 7 places in 11 days (Casablanca > Tenerife > Funchal > Malaga > Civitavecchia > Genoa > Barcelona) and a day is enough to see most of those places and take it in. Visiting all those places in such a short period of time is great, by the end of you really feel as if you've seen a ton.
