Just go for it, can always pay the road tax monthly.
I had a superb 280 a few years back, great car for wafting along with a goodly amount of oomph when you want it, and could return decent economy when you didn't.
I had a kodiaq before it, and was so displeased with it I traded it @ just over 6 months old for the ex dem Superb, the Superb was so much better in every way.
The "luxury" VED is a PITA, I have to pay it for the first 2 years I have my current cari, but I was in a position to put the extra away when I bought it so I don't notice it so much. I still don't like the fact I have to pay the authorities the extra but that's life !
If you are looking to be paying it for the next 4 years, see if you can put some away a month to take the sting out of it.
