Thinking of buying a 1950xtx. Few questions.

New here, would just like to add I've bought a 1950xtx off this guy too as i've just ordered a dual core e6750, Gigabyte P35-DS3P and 2GB 6400 RAM. I did originally have a sapphire 1950xt 256mb in that order but I was told they have run out of stock and are being discontinued, so I started looking around for another card. When I saw the 512MB XTX for 110 quid it was too good a deal to pass up on!
So anyway, if you still need help kicking this guy's ass if he doesnt deliver his promise, I'm yer man!

Going from an athlon64 3000, 1gb of ram and r9800pro, hoping to see some wicked things :)

X1950XTXs all top out at 2.2ghz to 2.3ghz on mem, I haven't seen one set higher.

X1900XT/Xs have however hit 1ghz with G-DDR3, which G-DDR4 cannot beat except when its up to 2.5/2.6ghz. But it can't get there.

22W saving! Wow! Yes still limited by the fact the core heats the mem up and not the other way round. Still doesn't matter for the non overclocker.

X1900XTX > X1950XTX for any overclocker.
So what your really trying to say here is.. save money and buy the X1950XT that has GDDR3 memory, and overclock it, and it will clock better than the x1950xtx (due to GDDR3) or the x1900xtx (due to the better 1950's more efficient core).

warren - did you get your XTX? What is it like?

If you look up the thread a bit you'll see I had a change of heart and got a GTS off an etailer.

He only accepted direct bank transfer to a different name that was on the invoice. I was a little thrown by this and asked the good people on the ebay discussion board if he looked sus. Anyway they said it looked kosher as he had a load of recent positive feedback, but at the 11th hour I decided to get a GTS from the etailer I was getting my other bits and bobs from. The direct bank transfer bit worried me somewhat to say the least.

Luckily for me, but unfortunately for a lot of other people it was a hijacked account!! A lot of people have lost money through this guy  . Don't know what ebay are gonna do about it. There was about 15 negatives with people going crazy, but ebay have now removed them for some reason.

There are some **** 's out there. I hope magnum_force didn't loose any money. :(

(might want to remove the swearing :)). I expect it was removed as being a hijacked account, a little unfair on this guy/girl having negative feedback when it isn't their fault. The account should have been suspended though as soon as the hijack was reported.

Thankfully we have the members market to 'hopefully' avoid situations like this.

Its just feels like those people have been swepped under the carpet. A couple of people said that they had in touch with the police, but what can do as they probably haven't got the resources.

Going off ebay fast to be honest. Too many scammers.

so is a 1900xt better than a 1950pro and 1950xt ?

1900xt much better than 1950pro
1900xt worse than 1950xt (at least at stock clocks, as many peeps here think the 1900's clock better even given that the memory isn't likely to go as high).

For reference, my x1950xt would do 702/2048 without a voltage change. Above that need a slight increase, but didn't push it as needed better cooling really (and quieter).

All of a sudden, the X1900XTX is good for "overclockers"!

I thought you said it was a better card! What about if the person runs at stock?

And you're basing all this on getting a card which is a good overclocker. So what if the buyer doesn't? What if they get a good overclocking X1950XTX?

Everything you say is based on speculation. You can carp on about writing all the overclocking guides under the sun, it wouldn't make you less wrong.

And erm... the 3DM06 record is held by 2900XTs. So does 2900XT > 8800 Ultra? I'd be careful how you answer that one.

And it's a bit more than 5W at load.

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2821&p=13

the top score is held by 2 8800 ultras in sli. NOT 2 2900xt's in xfire

edit: sorry its not really related to OP, but it may clear up that little debate

Yep, this guy has robbed my money!
Can't afford this upgrade now so am in the process of sending back the new cpu/ mobo and ram I had bought.
I hope this guy has his balls chopped off at some point.

Gutted for you :( Any chance the bank will cover you for fraud etc? I think it's worth contacting them about it.

Sorry to hear that this oxygen thief has done this to you :(.

I really hope that something can be done.

Good luck in chasing this one up.

A little off topic I know, but I've never understood why people buy off ebay - I've looked on there meself for computer parts but all I ever see are things like 'shipped from Canada' but I can still find it as cheap shopping around in the UK. There don't seem to be any bargains to be had but there's plenty of extra risk.

Worst comes to the worst I'll happily pay an extra tenner to a reputable online retailer for the added peace of mind.
