Now i love OcUK but just so your all have the heads up the new CHEAP ATI cards well the 3870 xt is nothing like the pic on OcUK webby is has a single slot cooler zalman like and comes with no hmdi converter which is total **** .Mine went back 20 mins after opening it Triple x it was called and tbh its the cheapest looking box/cables and card i have brought in sometime.

BTW this was the OcUK model

My friend received exactly the same card when it was still selling for £130 + delivery a few weeks back. He was a bit disappointed but it works fine. The fan makes a winning noise when first start up but he seems to be ok about it.

The card is a lot shorter than the official 3870 PCB (even shorter than the 6800GT he replaced!) which lead me to think it a cut down version? there's no cooling for the VRAM as well, he tried to overclock it to no avail.

And no I don't think his came with crossfire cable.

NO cross fire cable no hdmi doggle it might well be a nice card but i dont want one of them coolers and as for it having next to no cables come on you only get one vga/dvi converter its cheap cause i get **** all in the box.Like i said its gone back i get me a GT instead

Well as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. There's got to be a reason why they're cheaper!

Any betting this thread gets deleted?? :p

PK!

Indeed it just might. But i have brought a few OcUK model cards the cheap way to go.And this is by far the worsed i have got it just looks real cheap add that together with your have to spend £10-20 geting the hdmi doggle and crossfire bridge.1st they need to change the pic on the webby then inform us of the cable problem.

Hi there

When you buy the cheapest available don't expect to get everything, there is normally a reason why something is cheaper!

I'd always recommend you pay the small amount extra and go for something like the PowerColor or Gigabyte!.

We've just put both PowerColor and Gigabyte 3870's on This Week Only at sub £100+VAT which make them excellent buys! :)

Its always a mystery what cables and dongles you get with cards, its very annoying and should be specified on the desc. So now you have to pay for the return postage eh?

ocuk need to get free delivery sorted out, just like their main competitors.

HI there

At the moment this is an ATI special, the pricing will only hold like this until February 29th and then its upto too ATI if they wish to keep the pricing this low or if prices will go back up slightly.

You said that about the cards though the other day.

Not really an ATI special is it now. Especailly when you are just getting a card with a poor bundle that doesnt even include a Crossfire bridge.

IMO the cables and the bridge and dongle should come as standard regardless if its a "cheap" version or not. Without the above you're cutting down features the card comes with as standard.

The special was also on the PowerColor cards too and Powercolor have now agreed to hold the pricing for us on theirs now its just whether other partners follow the trend. The Powercolor is not a poor bundle, it comes with cables and crossfire bridge, plus its overclocked so its actually very good for the price.

Hi there

Its not something we have a lot of control off as we don't actually manufacturer the cards. We shall update our description of the OcUK model to say it does not come with such cables.

Agree... Crossfire bridge and a dongle are just standard components.

They arn't 'extra's'.

Just seems bizarre that some manufacturers wouldn't include these bog standard parts. :|

Personally i would guess 80-90% of people never use the crossfire bridge. So to jump to gibbo's defense a lil you could always email or call and ask whether it includes these cables / dongles before purchasing :) especially if you plan to use crossfire. If i bought a card now and never plan to use cross fire, id prefer not to receive the bridge and save a few quid.

I can confirm that the powercolor cards come with a good bundle. (no extra games etc, but good bundled cable with hdmi convertor and crossfire thingy :D)

So does every other card apart from the OcUK card.

Guess Gibbo got a point as to they have no control over whats in the box.Just as already said i would have thought standard to put a CB/HDMI/2 VGA/DVI.Plus 2 slot cooler was what i was looking for.The thought of having to pay return wait for money to go back in the bank just so i can order the GT.I got a psu going back also and was just going to order a new psu today (it could not handle card) so i could put this pc together and wait for the money back of that but dont have the funds to order a new psu and card.
