THINKING OF BUYING A 3870 XT READ THIS

I couldn't care less me what i got, as long as i got the card, all id be interested in tbh, when i got my GT it came with loads of cables/adapters, and that COH game, i just took the card out, fitted it, put box away, i couldn't care less whats still in there, i wanted the card, thats what i got.:)

You Sir represent 99% of the normal customers, the people that are however registered complain ;)

Hi there

Problem is we don't become aware of such issues until we hear about them like this or from a customer directly. As the manufacturers don't go about telling you what they are not including in the box and as we don't go opening up every new product we get in and as OcUK models sometimes vary from different brands it can be hard to track.

There has been times when OcUK cards have been really good bits of kits and included overclocked models etc and sometimes you just get the bare card, we just bring in the best deal at the time.

You know what I do in these situations.....

Complain ;) I would goto ATI directly themselves maybe theres a PR or guy on the inside u got... and more then likely they will just send down a giant brown box with 100s of hdmi and crossfire dongles.

I had to do that with the Maxtor 500gigers cos was RMAing so many since they didnt come with the right power adaptor and some the power would cut off randomly, silly europlug !

Run down to the Powercolor 3870 XT Extreme on TWO deal

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=56&subid=416
(800 MHz core & 2340 MHz Mem) plus it states:

"800MHz Core, 512MB 2340MHz GDDR4 Memory, 320 Stream Processors, CrossfireX Ready, 1yr Warranty with TUL/OcUK, Supplied Call of Juarez PC-DVD Game!"

About to hit buy it now for 2 of these for a CF set up, I hope they come with a CF bridge and the game ? Plus the Mem clocked as stated, Can someone confirm before I order please ??

Well, I got my 2 powercolor hd3870XT's a week or two ago last time they were on TWO. Came in nice proper boxes, and each had a bridge cable and the hdmi adapter. No copies of the game though - I think thats an OCUK deal not a part of the normal box contents.

No idea if they still have these items or not, but can't see them changing it unless they have supply issues.

As for clock speed - mine is gpu 796 (800 basically), and 1170 mem. They work very well - only downside is the fan is on full whack all the time.

Hope that helps?

I completely agree with you. I dont think i have ever used the cables or other bits that come with a graphcis card (wait i did try VIVO on my 7800GTX a couple of times but thats it), heck i dont even use the driver cd, but get the newest drivers from the website. If youre going for a cheap price then the way to do it is to supply the minimum stuff to get the card working - ie the card itself.

No worries there, but we do expect to know what we are getting. On non-standard retail products, like OcUK specials, pictures and box contents descriptions need to be accurate. Tell us what we're getting! It's no good just not expecting to get everything.

Agreed. Don't make us call Trading Standards ;) But seriously I'd be  off if I had bought this - it's been in my basket for a few days, I nearly bought it, pleased I didn't now I know it's not the cooler in the picture! I was going to buy S1 with it, but going to buy the Gigabyte version I think and test with a proper dual slot cooler first.

The special was also on the PowerColor cards too and Powercolor have now agreed to hold the pricing for us on theirs now its just whether other partners follow the trend. The Powercolor is not a poor bundle, it comes with cables and crossfire bridge, plus its overclocked so its actually very good for the price.

yes i agree with that, good price for what ya get tbh;)

Can't say i've had a problem with CCC since getting the X2 (comming from 8800).

Loads in a couple of seconds...

well i have had loadsa problems coming from a 8800gt to 2x 3870,s but after a few days of banging my head up against a wall it was worth it
:)

THE OCUK is not really a good price if its an underclocked version that u have to spend another £30 towards to get the cables u need especially given that another £30 sees u in GT retail territory!

775mhz is not underclocked.....that's the stock 3870 speed

Just got the Gigabyte 3870 through the post this morning - the cooler is not what is seen pictures either, it too is a zalman non dual slot design and i'm a tad miffed

they get it from different people, though, iirc Gibbo already mentioned that...

If OCUK can't be bothered to look at and accurately describe the products they are selling then I for one won't be buying them! Poor show to be honest.

I've got nothing against, cheap, budget products - but everything against companies that aren't crystal clear about what they are selling.

They are OEM cards sold in bulk from various batches - not sure what people can't understand about this... theres a reason why they are cheaper - if you want the full kit them put up the money and get the retail version instead of being cheap...

Tho having said that I do notice several of the products on sale are sold with retail in the description.

Agreed. Been an OcUk customer for some time and find this rather shocking tbh. I understand that products may differ from the ones illustrated in the description pictures but when bundles differ from what is stated....something is wrong and the company in question seems to be shifting responsibilities away from itself.
