Thinking of swapping my car, Am I Mad ?

Even I'd steer away from that I think. 325s are nice cars, but I don't think they're worth that sort of money. I'd either keep the Mondeo or sell it and get something like an MX5 (not sure why they entered the conversation?). I've known a few people with 325s recently and they've cost a lot to keep going and they're hardly nimble.
 
If you buy that beemer, your going to have to change your name to Akbar, Jazz, Mo, Asim or something similar, get loads of bling, lower it, put some 20"s on it, black out the windows, and add an ice system thats worth 3 times as much as the car and have bhangra pumping out the speakers. :D
 
What you really need is an E39 530i Sport with 18" M Parrellels, light smoke tint and a quad exhuast, lowered on Eibach springs, in Carbon Black or Topaz Blue.

I would definately do that swap, the 3-series looks miles better, has handling in a different league, will be just as quick in a straight line, and is a convertible which is ideal for the summer.

I dont know whether the values match up etc, but i'd definately rather the BMW than the mondeo. I really want a convertible :(

The car is just about to tick over to 106k. I am the second owner of the car, before me it belonged to a guy who owned it as a company car then bought it off the company when he left. The service history is good but is missing for when it was a company car. It is a lovely motor and runs like new and has been very well looked after in the 2 years I have owned it. Looks, yes, I'll agree with that, I still like the E30 and think it's a classic. Also agree on handling, the E30 was brilliant for that.
Speed however is a different matter altogether. At the first OCUK dyno day, an ST220 made 223bhp, with my old 325 making 153bhp. The cabby E30 was no lightweight, and I'd expect the Mondeo to leave it for dead, certainly at higher speeds as the E30 had the aerodynamics of a brick.
 
the beemer has some character, its unusual and its unique (looks wise and in aparent condition).

mondeo is ten a penny. i would chose the beemer of the mondeo, but not at that price. i would expect at least £500 to come in my direction
 
Its a bit of a mixed bag tbh, places like the Motoring Telegraph report that the BMW has been other places report it isn't, i don't know which to belive.
