Thinking of swapping my HTC Desire for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc.....

I'm sure I read somewhere that the latest firmware update on SE phones added this functionality??

The most impressive thing about the sweep being that it creates a 3D image using the S' single lens camera. Also we should add that we've checked with SE personally and the same feature should be coming to Arc users in the not too distant future so there should be no bad blood between Arc and arc S users.

Just rang Talkmobile... they put me through to mobiles.co.uk and they HAVE messed it up, they said they HAVE got my PAC code but "it hasn't been used". Now apparently there is nothing they can do?!. It's either cancellation or keep the new number. Utter disgrace. And to top it off the monkey on the phone disconnected my call half way through a sentence. Probably to try and make it seem like an accident but I've heard all the stories before.

Absolutely shocking, 2 of you go for the same deal and they mess up with both of your pac codes. What a cowboy operation, I wonder how many other customers have had the same problem.

Yeah ring them back and demand some kind of compensation deal or something. Unacceptable messing up with pac codes like this, Im sure they wouldn't be happy if they couldn't keep their own numbers. Its certainly put me off ever using them!

I got through to the same person can you believe! Escalation manager only works until 5pm (did someone say cowboys?) so I'm getting a ring back tomorrow. I've said I want compensation if I'm going to keep the new number because it's their error (confirmed they HAVE got my PAC code from when I ordered) and changing my number is a big hassle. Will keep you posted...

Now I have to ring talkmobile and find out why I'm getting "emergency calls only". This is not going well.

Edit: Update... faulty SIM card! (tried in another phone while talking to the customer services). Could they have messed up this order any worse? Just to rub salt into the wound, I'm now getting a new SIM card... but they can't use the PAC because it's just a SIM swap... :( . Not talkmobile's fault at all, it's mobiles.co.uk who are the problem!

St0rmer66 - looks to be exactly what happened with me and I'm not having much luck with them either!!

I spoke to mobiles.co.uk yesterday and at first they tried to palm me off with the xperia ray (3.3" screen so no good for me as I wanted the bigger screen!) and then I told them the only other handset I would consider was the Galaxy S2 but I wasnt willing to pay the £150 upfront cost for the handset (even though there is no 6 months free by redemption on the S2 which would have meant I'd end up paying £360 over the 12 months as opposed to the £180 for the Arc!!).... and they said the best that could do would be to reduce the cost by 2 weeks line rental (ie. £15!?!?!) so I told them to stick it!

Sooooo frustrating because I already have the handset - all I want is a new SIM with my old number correctly ported onto it!!! but they tell me there is no way for me to keep the handset and they just sort the SIM mess out! (seems a bit stupid as surely they will just end up with a 2nd hand handset that they will then only be able to sell as "refurbished"!?!?!)

Anyway, she then went away and spoke to their stock department and came back and said the Arc wasnt end of line and they would be getting some in within the next 2 weeks but she had to refer to her manager to see if I could "still get the same deal" so shes ringing me back this morning!

If the answer is anything other than yes then I will be complaining like crazy!!!!

As much as I've been messed around though, I cant help but think its at least partly Talkmobiles fault as they do have my PAC code!?!?!

*UPDATE*

Not looking good, having been promised a call this morning with a decision, I call mobiles.co.uk to get an automated message saying they are closed specifically for today for some reason!?!?
Trouble is, my 14 day period to send the phone back expires today!!!!

Not had a call back today either! I'm just going to change my number I think, I don't trust them to sort it out again. I will be pushing for some compensation though, I think a month (£30) off isn't too much to ask after all their **** ups!

StevieP, Talkmobile told me they DIDN'T have my PAC, but mobiles.co.uk said they did have it on the system from when I ordered, just that it hadn't been used. I would think they would waive the 14 day period since there is currently a dispute going on (bit like when you get a parking ticket).

Still no call this morning from Mobiles.co.uk so I ended up ringing them - spoke to the same girl and she has confirmed that they will honour the original deal and has arranged for me to return my handset and SIM!

Apparently they should be getting the Arc back in stock "within the next 2 weeks" and she will ring me then to set up the new contract and (hopefully) do the number porting correctly this time!!!!

Lost a lot of confidence in them over this shambles and when I enquired about the possibility of some compensation, was told no!?!?!

I'll have to decide whether to take the deal when (if) the handset comes into stock!

My money is on one (or all) of the following happening:

1) They take a direct debit payment for the period I've had this phone, even though I've been told no charges will be made, and I'll have to spend ages sorting it out!

2) I dont get a call in a fortnight and all notes of them offering me this deal have been mysteriously lost! (which is why I've asked for e-mail confirmation!)

3) The Quidco £30 wont track because the contract was cancelled! (will mention this if I do end up taking the new deal in a couple of weeks!)

4) The cashback claim will go pear-shaped because of the mix up!

If it wasnt such a good deal and I didnt like the handset so much, I'd simply kick it into touch and use someone else!

Got a cheque for £30 on its way to me in the next 28days, don't think I'll get any better than that no matter how hard I push! So only paying for 5 months now out of the year... £30*5=£150-£30 quidco = £120 or £10 a month for a new phone worth £230+ w/ 400mins, Unlimited Texts & 1GB data!

You've done OK there methinks! (apart from not keeping your number which was never a possibility for me!)

I'm all packed up and ready for them to collect the phone on Friday and hopefully will get a call in a week or so to re-order!

Definitely gonna push for a £30 cheque, if only to cover the £30 Quidco cashback that's inevitably gonna be rejected! - Luckily I've also spoken to TM and they have agreed to cover my first months bill when I eventually get set up with them! :D

.....unless a better deal presents itself in the meantime! :p

Well I'm not out of the woods yet. My SIM still won't connect to the network. Spoke to a helpful bloke just now and apparently there is no account created for me. He can find my details on the "level 1" of the system but it doesn't link me to any SIM. He's had to pass it on to the correct department (closed after 5pm, typically) because he can't create an account manually from his access level and it should get sorted soon, he did apologise and say that when it's up and running we can discuss some further compensation if necessary.

If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!

P.S. Have used my £30 to splurge on a Live Dock!
