Thinking of upgrading my GTX 660

If you already have a GTX 660 Whatever you do for Christ's Sake don't get a GTX 760.

In reality you will hardly notice the difference.

280, 770, 280X or 290.

A GTX 770 is slightly faster than a 280, a 280X has the same performance as the GTX 770 and an R9 290 is a little faster than a GTX 780.

It depends on who you ask, some people just can't deal with the notion that a 290 could be faster than a 780.

The 290 is an average of about ~10% faster. not in all games, it beats it in most

TPU have tests at a range of resolutions, although I tend to take the newest review of a graphics card they do as I assume that means latest drivers are used?

Yeah latest benchmarks are always what i look at, Most review sites give you a rough idea though, but users tests on here are the scores people actually get on their own system.

It's going to be down to gaming performance mainly. Windows performance is largely CPU/RAM/HDD bound.

over a 280x i assume you mean, yes mainly faster gaming, it wont make your pc load up faster or look any different, again assuming you can run on ultra settings on both the 280x and the 290.

The 280x you will most likely have to drop a few settings on the newest games where as the 290 you wont.

With respect, you have an FX-83##, i also have an AMD CPU, they are not very powerful, certainly not as powerful as a more expensive Intel CPU, you would benefit from an AMD GPU and Mantle if you play BF4, in MP your minimum Frame rates will be massively higher in AMD's Mantle API than DirectX, i'm talking the difference between 50 FPS to more than 100 FPS.
