Thinking of upgrading my GTX 660

would it really be that much
 
Thing is, if you can deal with the stock cooler the R290 is a steal at £200 second hand. That'll allow you to run most games maxed or near to it at that resolution.

If not, then I'd look at either a GTX770 or an R280X depending on the deals you can get on each and if you want things like PhysX/3D.

That, for me, is where my £200 would go. :)

im thinking the same, Im not bothered about 3d, and physx is only on a few games.
 
Indeed. It's very upsetting, as a day one R290 owner, that the cards have plummeted in value so sharply. :(

Click on the review in my signature, If you play at maximum settings it will not be 100%+ as in such case your bound more by the GPU. not the CPU so much, but still very significant, there is an example of the difference at maximum settings in that review.

At lower settings (CPU bound) its huge. i have some screenshots, let me find them and i will post them.

This was actually done on my old 7870XT

DirectX: 57



Mantle: 123

 
Im still a bit stuck on choosing a card, my choices are still the GTX 770 or the 280x
Im also considering a used 290x
