This Business and Moment...

But, if it comes up again chances are you'll be their first phone call to see if you're still interested!

Yes indeed, who knows!

I'm glad to hear I got through to the selection and WAS selected. Was beginning to doubt myself a lot :o

Anyway. Onwards and upwards. Will keep looking. Something will come up.

Well after 7 years in my current role im bored stupid and theres nothing new i can learn from it. Ive had the odd punt over the last 18 months at a few jobs internally and have either not even got an interview or benchmarked on the assessment day but not got the job.

Ive applied for 5 entry level analyst roles internal within the last 2 months and not even got an interview until the 5th one. It went up on the jobs board at work at short notice with only 3 days advertised. Managed to get my app in and got through to the hour long phone interview which i had on tuesday and just found out ive got through to the final face to face interview which is on the 20th and im the last one being interviewed.

Bit nervous for it now but fortunately my current job and my existing skills and expertise fit perfectly for what they need in the department.

Just hope i dont balls the interview up

Meh interviewed today and learnt the 2 positions have been cut to 1.

I was the last person interviewed and got told the outcomr about 4 hours after the interview. I benchmarked and interviewed well and came 2nd of all the people interviewed.

But since the 1 position was pulled... no new job for me. Plus i only lost out by a very small margin to the person who got it

Currently the inf team (read 1 guy with the 'help' of MS fast track) are in the process of migrating users from on premise mailboxes to O365 and so far it's just been an absolute shambles. Due to time pressure and insistence of people high up, including 1 person who come from a different dept to basically be 2nd from the top of ICT who has no idea of ICT, there's been no real planning or testing of anything from mobile devices, to outlook profiles, folder permission and shared mailbox migration.

Its just been an absolute shower. Luckily I'm off between Christmas and New Year so only 2 days left!

Surely it can't be that hard? The biggest pain I had was getting the domain setup on there as it's not something I can do, it has to be done by our tech director, but that was for handful of people.

This time of year sucks when job hunting. I have time at work to look and apply for jobs, but I know there is zero chance of getting anything as nobody bothers until the new year begins. So it feels almost pointless to do so.

Also what doesn't help is that I flew to the UK for 24hrs on boxing day to see family and on the 27th I have my boss calling and texting me wanting to know where the **** I am. I told him I'm on the way back from the UK and he said I should be in the office and that nothing was agreed with him prior to this

Yet when the flights were booked, 6 weeks prior. It was agreed (both verbally and via email) when I would be coming back (afternoon of the 27th) therefore I would NOT be in the office. He thought that I had some confusion with the bank holiday allowances in Portugal. When on the phone I corrected him and said "no, we confirmed this by email on November 18th" (I specifically reminded myself of this just in case some **** like this was pulled, and had to cover my arse) "We confirmed that I would be flying on the 26th to the UK for 24hrs and returning in the afternoon on the 27th, ready to return work on the 28th. Also I specifically took the 26th as my bank holiday allowance as to not take advantage of the company so I did not get even more additional time off than others"

His response "Well I don't remember that" "Tomorrow we need to have a serious talk"

I'm in the office today. Boss has barely looked at me. I'm sending an email to HR to explain what happened and the conversation.

To make matters worse. My last remaining grandparent had a huge stroke on Xmas day and it's not looking good. Whilst it was kind of expected. If she dies in the next week or so and then I tell him I need to go to the UK for a funeral...well, I can't imagine that conversation going well.

I've had that problem in the past. People struggle with being proved wrong sometimes. Just forward on the email to him and copy in HR.

It's getting ridiculous. I was told I could take an Uber when I came back from Frankfurt the other week (landed around 10pm) but I decided against it purely just in case he came up with some ******** reason to not pay out.

And people wonder why I always request things be done by email as I've had these kind of issues. It's pathetic really that employee's have to deal with such issues from terrible managers.

If it's written down, I have proof.

I've been following that written down policy but I didn't have anything by writing about the Uber so I left it. Only would've been around €30 but its not the point. It's the principal.

I had my Christmas party last week, or the week before, I lose track of days/time over Christmas. I won Employer of the year, dead chuffed to be honest as I've only been in the role 1 year, 1 month! Back at work this week and it's dead. When do I approach the bosses to review my wage then? :p

I get told I'm not allowed to use email. Can you guess why?

Meeting with HR done. Explained the misunderstanding and miscommunication earlier in the week and I was glad I was as he had already gone to HR about it. Fortunately shes very laid back and understood my point of view, so shes not worried about it.

I then spoke about how hes difficult, constant communication problems and she said she knows that I'm not the first person to have problems with him and has advised that I put absolutely 100% of everything in writing from now on. Even if it's something thats quickly discussed, just send a quick note confirming it afterwards so there is an audit trail.

She admits it makes for a not nice working environment, but it is unfortunately necessary.

I guess I feel a little better now my concerns have been voiced. But nothing will change from it.

Ah well, I shall continue to grin and bare it and look for something else.
