I like that you shared the confidential email on here
I've put a good word for you. Said you are operating as CSOMeh, recruiter innit. You want the job?
I'm sorry to hear that. Do you know how much of a cut there will be to the bonuses? A friend's employer in the USA announced a 30% cut to the bonus pool funding.Company has announced pay freezes and reduced bonuses for this year. Joy. Incredibly demotivating after having a really strong year personally and having to deal with some awful situations along the way.
45%I'm sorry to hear that. Do you know how much of a cut there will be to the bonuses? A friend's employer in the USA announced a 30% cut to the bonus pool funding.
Did you stick there though or did you get a new job?Bonuses is a bit different in that I consider that a bonus that will flex based on company performance, sometimes you get shafted when you have a great year but the company doesn't, sometimes you are average and get a big bonus.
I’ve been here 11 years and progressed well in that time. I’m on track for promotion next year and have invested a lot in that but if that falls through I think I’ll consider my options. My industry is all in a similar place but there are still opportunities out there. That's bloody awful, especially when you've had a good year. How long have you worked there? Any other opportunities in the area?
Depends on the expected % and company track record really. If your bonus is expected to be 25% or potentially even much more of your base, it can definitely be worth lining your exit up with the pay-out dates.Never stay at a company just because of the bonus, especially when that bonus isn't guaranteed.
Why is it so hard for a project manager to understand no means no? I've been booked offsite on a project for several weeks now and last week another project wants me to drop that to work on another project Monday afternoon. I said no, I told them my next available slot, and I see they booked it in for Monday anyway. I think I'm just going to no show as any time I think of replying it is anything but polite.
Sounds like the PMs need to understand the resources available to them and communicate with one another.
Does any one PM have more authority than the others? I've seen it in projects that have people from multiple functions where a person has to report to a PM and their current LM and sometimes conflict arises from differing priorities.
Generally that isn't your call. PMs should be demanding resource not taking what is available. The other project would sit in 2nd place for me
The trick with these types of arrogant PMs is to tactfully steer them elsewhere. What I'm booked on to this week is considered highest priority by the business, definitely our highest value project. The other project would sit in 2nd place for me with about 20 others that I dip in and out of. But either way it is the principle, they can see my calendar, I already told the PM several times when scheduling other work that this week is off limits and to then just tell me, you need to drop that and work on this. No, you're the project manager, manage resources within their availability don't just close your eyes and hope for the best. I decided to give another person a heads up I won't be there and no show.
