This Business and Moment...

I've got an interview on Friday with a big main contractor in construction for a low carbon something. It fits me perfectly, and I know the business very well as my wife used to work there, but also because I've delivered many successful projects with their Scottish arm. I'm very excited - really hope it comes good - though I am worried about leaving my current place should it come through.

God I hate waiting. Interview was on Friday and I got on superbly with the interviewer, but I don't know whether my actual answers were good enough. At the end she said, "as it's Friday afternoon you won't here from us today, it should be Monday."

Monday has passed with no feedback. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing as she seemed to be very busy, but I wish they'd been more realistic about the timeline as I'm too excited and too impatient to wait.

Edit: didn't get a second interview. The main part of the feedback was that, "Around the strategic level experience and step up in size of business we don’t feel dirtychinchilla is currently ready to jump to leading 3 Business Units." It's fair enough, I don't necessarily disagree, although I feel like they want someone to sidestep into this role,. and I don't think the salary is enough for someone with the level of experience they're after - £65-75k.

That does seem a bit weak for such a leadership position. How big are these BUs?

I've concurrently led multiple services (being accountable) for the top end of that salary way back, but that does seem weak.

Honestly, I don't know. The job was with Galliford Try so the projects are fairly substantial.

Got an offer today, after negotiating the ICT Cloud and Infrastructure role.

They gave me their best offer, I be taking a paycut which will be in the double figures :( I have till Monday to accept their offer, looks I be rejecting it. @Orangeade As you are familiar with Switzerland this would take me below the higher earners bracket if I took the offer.

I really like the place and the job role but I am not financially handicapping myself again.

Hopefully the other place will get back to me on Monday with an offer for their Senior role.

After a long email I sent to the company about the Cloud role justifying my pay. I'm waiting for feedback.

This morning I got an offer from a bank for the Senior Engineer role. I won't be taking a paycut which is good and it's 15mins away from my apartment. I have till Friday to sign the contract, just waiting for the other place to accept or reject my counter offer.

...made it through to the next/final stage, so fingers crossed for that next week.
Had that interview this morning, I think it went really well but as usual I just have to wait to hear the outcome.
Of all the interviews I've done this went the smoothest, genuine rapport with the interviewers helped a lot.
I had to do a tech test while screen sharing which was new for me, thankfully the task was straightforward. I'll do the test again sometime with no time restriction to see what I do differently.
I muddled through theory questions using my notes, I'm terrible at remembering terminology, hopefully they're looking for understanding rather than memorization.

Edit: Probably also helped that I bought a new headset, cheapo Logitech on-ear designed for meetings instead of fancy Sennheiser over-ear designed for gaming, felt like the over-ear was making me sleepy.
